Waddington viewing area dissapointing
Re: Waddington viewing area dissapointing
As I've said before I don't think any of the current staff read FC, John had an account a few years ago but he parted ways, citing his sister had ran it to the ground.
The ladder rule I think was only about during CW 2019?
The dog thing baffles the most, the van thing you can kind of get - vans block others views, but when one of the girls has her 'emotional support dogs' with her all the time and takes them for a walk around the car park including during exercises, plus if they know you then you can bring your dog in etc....
It's a shame when John sold up someone else didn't get the lease, there was talk of a couple of people going for it in the hope of new blood and a new lease of life.
You can tell with the cliental these days that the spotters are the rarity as well.

A mate of mine was refused entry in his Renault Espace, which has windows & seats and even on the V5 is classified as a passenger CAR. So it's not a van ban but anything they don't like the look of. He offered to park it right at the back but still made to park in the overflow. He's in his 70s with a knee replacement!
WAVE is a handy spot but the 'power trip' rules leaves a sour taste, but most base spotting in this country now is a nightmare!

Comfortably Numb

Typical airfixpilot!
He goes missing for months, suddenly appears back on FC and slags-off the WAVE just because it doesn't have a gift shop and indoor eating area anymore, he then disappears back to wherever he came from and hasn't bothered logging-on since he started the thread that he created.
I wonder what he'll post next. I can't wait to read it.

Re: Waddington viewing area dissapointing
At least during CW24-2 people have an alternative parking place.
Kudos to whoever negotiated the overflow. I for one will certainly use it (and happily make a donation. Wife is a firefighter!)
The Wave is an option for anyone wanting to deal with the Stasi therein but I’ll happily walk on by.
I am fortunate in that I could take the bike as I often do to other bases and park well away.

Re: Waddington viewing area dissapointing
For those not on Facebook, a post entitled *warning warning warning* has been posted by the car park operatives/police/stasi. A height restriction of 2.1 metres is in place and what looks like a temporary wire height barrier has been erected. The overflow area is open for use and a small donation to the fire centre is recommended. This is indicated as “where those that have a problem with the way we run the WAVE carpark can go.”
I see dogs are now permitted, but only on leads. Not sure when the MOD changed their stance from “no dogs (but only during exercises.)”
No camping stoves of any kind permitted.
Hope of help to someone,
