worth a try No. 1

Post by Ferrari » Sun Feb 21, 2010 9:31 pm

Seen from the car driving past Waddington on 4 August 1985 were...

2 Vulcans withdrawn from use
1 NATO E-3

My Dad woudn't stop to read off the registrations (I was 11 at the time and very excited at my first ever sight of a military airfield)

Someone out there must know what they were!

Cheers,
Dave Ferrari

Your Vulcans are most likely XM607 in the old position on the Gate and XJ825 which was the old BDR airframe. XL426 was the VDF flyer at the time oh those were the days.

On 1st august I have a log entry as Nimrod AEW3 XZ285 being present. No Vulcans were noted.
However on 30th May 1985 XJ825 was noted, which would have been close to the A15, XM607 would have been located by the main gate , so not seen from the A15
