And another thing that annoyed me more then my Dad was that we had be off base at 5.30PM even though the Bronco and the Hawk still had to display. :(

Regards.

Mark.

That was accidental due to the ThunderBirds having to check T-Bird 5 for damage mid air before it was allowed to continue its display and land. Also delays from rigging/derigging the arrestor cable let the schedule slip.

The reason they could not open the gates early today was because they had no first aider on site! :grr:

We was there from just gone 7, not far from the front and then moved on, thought we lost out place. All we could do was drive backwards and forwards and lucky on the 2nd attempt the gate was just opend and we indicated and shot it, well according to the police we could of not been pushing in, but was a very big and complicated mess!! :grr:

I bet they open early tomorrow!

what! sorry that cant be right im an ex raf medic and i know for a fact there is alway an RAF medic / medics on site there has to for aircraft, and are covered for up to 3000 civiys; a RAF medic center is ok, unless the rules have changed in the last 5 years

edit - my bad spelling

Nope that is 100% right, the lady and Guy who run the Burger van was also not alowed on early to set up because of this, she was told by them at the gate that it was because there was no first aider! Stupid as it sounds when your on an airbase....

LarryElite wrote:To be honest they will have to respond to the situation. I guess a hell of a lot more will turn up tomorrow than today. If that is the case then the A15 will be jammed along time before 9am. There is only so much moving on the police can do before it comes dangerous with people turning around and pulling in etc. Im gonna get there for 7.30 so atleast im there to take things as they come. They were saying constantly the airshow gates would not open early last year and they opened em 50 mins early in the end once the police gave up...

so you've clearly been 'told ' on here that it's 09:00 local for the gates, Yet you are gonna be drudging up and down from 07:30, in the rush hour, and ' to be honest' they won't open the gates before then 'cause the staff won't be on site and need a brekie & briefing, it's people like yourself that end up causing grief ford the rest of the people, by your belligerent up yours, i pay your wages ' attitude. take it you can't be asked to go in over the weekend!. :grr: :@

quote;

Also, if the blocking of the A15 is such an issue would it not make more sense to divert all through traffic around the back road between Bracebridge Heath and the Branston turning south of the airfield, keeping that stretch of the A15 only for traffic going to Waddington, if only at peak traffic times. Surely this also reduces the risk of traffic / pedestrian accidents along the 'fenceline' caused by drivers paying more attention to the air than the road!

er, you 'aving a larf fella aren't ya! how about you lot go along at 0905 when the gates are Open!. :pop: It's called a peak rush hour for a reason, for people to go to work, not just having a day off looking at planes, plus you're also holding up the base staff getting in as well!.

By doing the above you're just giving ammunition next year to the same and more traffic m,measures being put in place!, plus getting the locals backs up...you'll also find the the old bill own the roads, and will tell you so!...

well, you didn't have a place did you- you're blocking the road! Anyway, i presume you pay road tax so might as well get your money's worth.
If it was for a 1st aider then it would have more than likely have been St.John, rather than Medic 1.

Honestly folks, you complain more & more each year, now before you've even got on the field!...
just one huge bitching session going on here, Calm down dears, it's only an air show, or is the annual rehearsal for the fairford bitching contest over traffic and organised chaos.
 :pop: :Wow: :grr: ;)
p.s. it's not personal but come now , people man up,,otherwise you'll only get a traffic ticket before you've shown your show tickets...

Yesterday we didn't know the gates wouldn't open until 9 - today you do! IF you want to turn up cause problems that makes them rethink next year don't blame anyone else.

They said on Airshow FM about 8am (ish) that the viewing area was not open yet, I know not everyone listens, but maybe people should, could have saved some people a long wait.

I'm only 10 minutes away but I'm not sure there's any point in going, sounds like there won't be any room in the car park at this rate :O
If 20 was in use I'd have had a pic nic in my garden instead

good that's criminal damage anyway and pretty much stupid, selfish and ignorant and gives us a bad name, and next year you'll have more problems if you keep this kind of behaviour up :P

DamienB wrote:But the RAF would cut it anyway... or should do... so how would assisting the RAF be a criminal offence?
because it's reckless, and it's not yours to cut and you don't have authority to do it!, apart from the littering aspect of just throwing them into the road and not clearing it up.
That's the law and if people don't want to play ball then if you get nicked, you miss the show, get banned from Waddo and might end up with a £80 penalty notice for disorder ticket, although a caution / record is another option!. :pop:

Same principle as a you cutting your neighbours tree branches hanging over your wall!

anyway going off topic but people do need to think, also if you have the shears with you that can also be going equipped to commit criminal damage, especially if they are at your feet, so you could get nicked for that alone, or have them seized.
