Saudi Hawks
Re: Saudi Hawks
8 Saudis and 9 Reds up.
Saudi 8 was photo ship.
Saudis just done a cracking display - I think better than the Reds, definitely more aggressive.

Re: Saudi Hawks
Oh dear, just returned from a mates house at Bracebridge Heath, where we sat and watched the display. That's the second time I've seen the Reds been given a 'blooded nose' on their home soil, at their parent Unit by a foreign Team. Who can forget the Korean Black Eagles...? sorry to say, but the RAFAT really need to up their game big time.
Critically observing Pension regulatory activity...

Re: Saudi Hawks
For anyone thinking of watching the families day from the A15 tomorrow:
I have just driven down the A15 from the B1178 turn off (Branston) to the new roundabout at the end of the bypass, there are now no stopping/waiting cones on both sides of the road, as was during Cobra Warrior.
There is also now a large sign at the entrance to the fire training area stating No Public Access along with several large plastic road barriers which I assume will be put across the road when the training area closes tonight.
Hence it appears the only viewing area available is the WAVE or Bloxholme Lane?

Re: Saudi Hawks
From the RAF Waddington Group on FB - the WAVE had put something a bit stronger but I've put this in our group after speaking to a contact.
Regarding families day on Saturday.
The WAVE has been declared an avoid for the flying, all aircraft will not over fly the viewing area. It is the only place you can park on the eastern side of the base. Any larger area to make sterile is impractical and would mean the flying would be pointless. The A15 has to be kept moving and free flowing, and as such parking on the A15 is forbidden - traffic management is going out overnight tonight and will include no stopping and a reduced speed limit.
The A15 and B1178 verges need to be clear to prevent distractions to motorists and not risk pedestrians getting knocked over - it HAS happened in the past. The land between the WAVE and air ambulance will need to be kept clear for overflight, hence the over flow car park will be closed. If there are large gatherings in an unsafe zone the flying display director can curtail or cancel the Display.
Expect regular patrols from both RAF and Civil Police and other RAF personnel - if asked to move on its probably a good idea to do so. The lay-bys at the southern end should be open.
Times have changed since the last airshow 9 years ago.
This is an event for RAF personnel, it's not an airshow. Don't ruin it for them.
So,
You can view in the WAVE, but WAVE personnel probably won't let you leave the car park. (WAVE open at 8.30 - apparently they need to speak to everyone as they enter)
The overspill by the fire training centre is out of bounds.
The base don't want people gathering at any point on the road side.
Bloxholme lane is fine.
Tower Lane is fine.
Village playing field is fine.
Flying is between 12-2.

Riiiiiiight. That's not going to work then.(WAVE open at 8.30 - apparently they need to speak to everyone as they enter)
Re: Saudi Hawks
They haven't thought this through at all - there will be 2 massive queues of traffic waiting on the A15 for the WAVE to open from about 07.30 onwards, one from the South, and one from the North. The road will be completely blocked!
Whose bright idea was it to close the overflow car park?

Re: Saudi Hawks
The overflow was closed as it's under the display line.
They were trying their best to keep it safe and keep it within all the guidelines from the flying display directors it seems.
It's going to be carnage isn't it
Glad I got my shots today.
