It used to be Southend, but I picked it up when I was visiting Waddington in January! Southend Approach is now 130.780 and Radar 132.455.

128.95 was in use last night as well, first time I'd heard it. HeliMed was passed to it on departure, the Shadows were still using 345.075.

I'm not sure Richard, I haven't heard 345.075 or 280.175 in use today at all.
I hope it hasn't, not being able to hear the controller 3 miles away is worrying! haha.

I'll see what I can find out.

369.45 is Cranwell PAR frequency, Waddo's radar is broken, so they are using this frequency to operate a director service for Waddo/Scampton from Cranwell, which explains why I can't hear the controller.

So should be a temp thing whilst their radars are fixed.

Just as a word of warning re access to the 02 end.

I was down there this morning attempting to photograph the Drone.
I walked down to crash gate 5, then back tracked up the lane, then walked along what I thought was a footpath around the edge of the fields up to the A607.

On my return trip, I was greeted by the farmer who advised it was private land and I was trespassing. Public access is down to the crash gate only, public are not allowed off the track, whether through the field or around the edge. He told me there are multiple animal traps etc that are around there. He was polite and I apologised and went on my way. Apparently the game keeper would not be as friendly. I believe there is a small amount of land by the perimeter fence that is Mod owned but I don't think it's worth the risk in trying to access it.

I have had the mod plod telling me that field is private property - they were happy for me to be parked in the lane, not blocking but reiterated that I can't go into the field which I didn't need to do anyway on this occasion ( not like when the Italians arrived a few years ago)

From the wave page, after an issue this morning.
⚠️ People between the Lights ⚠️

This morning we had another occurrence of people being between the lights and the subsequent complaint. Due to this the RJ was held for takeoff until the RAF Police could move people who were stood between the lights. The A15 traffic was held so they could safely move people without dodging the traffic but this caused tailbacks of commuting traffic and cars three point turning on the A15 to go a different route. All this was caused by people stood between the lights.

The implications of standing between the lights should now be obvious and clear and I have attached photos to show what happened. While standing between the lights as a pedestrian is not a specific offence The Air Navigation Order 2016 section 240 states: “That a person must not recklessly of negligently act in a manner likely to endanger an aircraft, or any person in an aircraft.” and that is an offence! Also that side of the road is MOD property and the Royal Air Force Waddington Byelaws 1986 can apply, which allows people working under the authority of the station commander a power of arrest without warrant for anyone on their property!

We have tried to pass this message on to everyone gently with Marshalls and signs on the lights but a specific minority of you continue to do it.

I know this is a contentious subject and will spark debate. I am not pretending I’m whiter than white, I used to stand on that centreline too in years gone by and know the dangers all too well. But times are changing, Health & Safety is now everywhere and post Shoreham it’s higher up on the safety agenda than ever before. They even cut the fence so we can see over it! We do not want to see RAF Police & Lincolnshire Police pushed into using their powers, for visitors to be restricted to the WAVE compound or an 8ft solid fence being put up to deter spotters! But they are on the horizon if we fail to take the opportunity to police ourselves!!!

Why someone wants to stand under a landing aircraft, or behind one taking off is beyond me. It has to be said ,some people's self preservation skills are sorely lacking.

Just to update this post in advance of the many visitors.

No stopping/waiting cones are all along the A15 from the new bypass roundabout down to the junction with the B1178 white lane/tower lane.
No stopping/waiting cones are all along Bloxholme lane (runs parallel to the A15)
Layby at the S bend on tower/white lane closed off.

The WAVE SHOULD be open during the ex, but no official confirmation yet.
Overspill to the south of the WAVE SHOULD be available as it's been available constantly.

The farmland to the south of the airfield in the 02 approach is out of bounds, enter at your own risk. The only legal access land is the lane down to the crash gate, accessible from the now closed off Layby.

Waddo facebook has shared a lot of updates this morning about cones, lights and increased activity.

Up to date Frequencies:

342.125 Ground Stud 1
241.325 Tower Stud 2
345.075 Approach Stud 3
280.175 Director Stud 4
344.2 Talk down stud 5
376.2 Talk down 2 Stud 6
232.7 Radar Stud 13

121.3 Tower/Ground (favored tower frequency unless base is busy)
119.5 Radar (LARS)
125.35 Radar (Reds LARS service)
128.95 VHF Approach
291.675 ATIS
369.4 Vulcan Ops

243.450 Reds Air to Air
242.60 Reds Ops/secondary Air to Air (occasionally picks up tower VHF Freq as well)

Any additions or amends welcome.

The overspill is just to the South of the WAVE car park on the A15 on the same side of the road.

Cheers thanks, I assume it will be easy enough to see as people will be using it/directing people towards it?

If the same people are running the WAVE during the ex as before the closure - you should be able to see it easily with all the vans in there....

It is sign posted with a largeish red sign, but as Mike said, it's about 150 yards south of the wave on the opposite side of the road to the Base.
