Wittering runway resurfacing.

Post by jamesg23 » Fri Dec 29, 2023 11:38 pm

I hear the runway and taxi ways are being resurfaced at wittering lasting tll late 2024. Will the grobs be relocating to another location?

I have also seen a post but i can not for the life of me remember where but someone eluded to the fact of a lot more activity once the work is complete. Does anyone know or have heard this themselves? I know brize do a fair amount of traing at wittering.

If (and a big if) the F-35 fleet does go to 130+ aircraft surely they can’t all be at Marham… Wittering would be a good second base. They used it this year for F-35 remote base training.

Grobs will stay at Wittering and use the north taxiway as a runway while the main runway is done. As much as I'd like F-35s there, Marham has plenty of space and it'll be decades, if ever, the RAF gets 130 of them. Looking forward to more transport ops though.
