Qatari Hawks info

Post by nellis6 » Sat Feb 26, 2022 11:38 am

Can anyone advise as to how many Qatari Hawks are presently at Leeming and on average how many sorties they fly each day? I appreciate it may be different on a day to day, week to week basis, but want to get an idea as to whether it's worth the trip up for me to get some photos. It's a long way to drive for me and would probably spend a couple of days to increase my chances. Is it worth it???

Hi
Agree the six Hawks. They tend to put two up at a time in the morning and afternoon although one day last week they did put up three one afternoon. Hope that helps.

Hi Mike,

I would say they are ramping up slowly, with maybe up to half a dozen sorties per day. Using callsigns JAVELIN50~54 (so far).

Noted on the flightline c.1pm today, 7th March were 3 Qatari Hawks. I read them off as possibly ZB131, 134 and 135, but the heat haze(!) made accurate identification difficult. ZB131 was towed back to the hangar (Furthest right when viweid from the spotters enclosure) at which time 2 more could be seen inside, on the right hand side.
If anyone is able to confirm which examples were active today it would be appreciated.

ZB135 flew between 14:00 and 15:00 with ZB136 flying later in the afternoon but can't say if any of the other Qatari's did too ?
The T1's were also flying both this morning and this afternoon .

Thanks David, thanks Rich. It rather looks as if ZB136 was pulled out after I left to replace ZB131 on the flightlline.. Am I right in thinking 6 have bern delivered to Leeming so far?

ZB131, 135 & 136 all flew this afternoon. Two more were on the line, I believe they were ZB132 & ZB134 but would appreciate confirmation!
