LOG : RAF Leeming 21/03/2022

Post by No.1 Spotter » Mon Mar 21, 2022 4:57 pm

Hello All.
A very brief stop at RAF Leeming this afternoon produced the following: -

Grob Tutors --- G-BYUD, G-BYXT, G-BYYA, G-(BY)WA
Hawk T2 --- ZB132, ZB133, ZB135, ZB136
Apache Guardian --- 3 parked on the cross runway near to the former 25 Sqn HAS site, (two thought to be ZM706 & ZM712). Would be grateful if anybody can confirm the rego's of all three. All three were being re-fueled and were still present at 1515.
There were a number of 100 Sqn Hawks on the main apron, however heat haze prevented any positive identification.
Also for completeness Air Ambulance helicopter G-GMAH paid a brief visit mid afternoon.

Kind Regards

The Hawks were:- XX221/CO, XX261/CJ, XX202/CS, XX191/CC, XX198CH, XX348/CQ & XX339/CL, The Puma was XW213. The first Apache to land was an Apache AH.1 the second pair were both AH-64E's. Lot of heat haze and I would be interested to know their ID's also. As for the Grob T.1s there were 5 outside the hangar but can only confirm BYYA, BYUD & BYWA.

Looking at the images of the three AH-64's all were bouncing but ZM706 is confirmed and the Apache AH.1 looks like ZJ216. The second AH-64E is indistinguishable.
