Flying @ Linton

Post by ozzieparky » Mon Jun 29, 2020 4:16 pm

Been a few Hawks doing touch and go's at Linton over the last week - usually one at a time but today there's two in the pattern! Can't get any details on them from ADSB sadly...

Anybody know where they're from and what they are doing?

A post appeared on some of the local forums/Facebook pages which states ;

"This email is to inform you that the airfield will
recommence flying operations from the 22 June
2020 , initially with our Tutor aircraft and also
from 3rd July 2020 with up to six Hawk jet
aircraft operating from RAF Linton-on-Ouse
until 20th July 2020 . Planned flying hours will
be 08:30-18:00 hrs Monday to Friday . Once the
Hawk aircraft have departed after 20th July it is
expected that RAF Linton-on-Ouse will return to
routine Tutor flying until their final departure
in December 2020 ."

Apparently a new air conditioning system is being fitted in the Leeming control tower and hence the temporary move .

Thanks David - nice to see something about again - shame it's not on a more permanent basis!

Heard them today 3/7/20 call sign Savage used. As I have said before on here its a loverly place for spotting. The quite with intermittent sky lark noise is delightful ! Why not put the Reds their :D

I'm amazed they've gone for such a busy place for them (and the other two locations were likely to cause loads of crashes on the A1 with people watching the reds and not the road). Linton would have been perfect!

Quick correction to my hawk report after consulting my log. The call sign was "pirate" not savage. I believe pirate to be 100 sqd. Question for you all. Are 100 sqd still on mk1 hawks or have they been given any glass cotpit MK 2s ?
Cheers

Both Pirate and Savage are Leeming 100 sqdn callsigns, and they fly Hawk T1/1A.

I still need one of the detached Hawks! Can anyone tell me whether they are parked out when not active, or hangared. TIA

Parked outside throughout day - I believe they're hangared at night.

Hi
Are the hawks still at Linton until Monday evening?
All the best
