Church Fenton Air Display?
Church Fenton Air Display?
Anyone heard anything about a potential air display at CF on Sunday 6 September?

Re: Church Fenton Air Display?
Now the 26th September. There'll be an official website any time now with all the details, admission is by advance ticket, there are some superb acts booked already with more in negotiation - this is is a pretty big show from what I have seen and should be well worth attending, especially if you're a fan of jet and piston warbirds. Unlike days of old the crowd will be at the north side of the airfield in front of the hangars (so the photographers won't be too happy!) but at least we'll get some respite from whatever weather gets chucked at us! I'd suggest that its important that the aviation community get behind this event, especially if, like me, you're keen to see it repeated annually.
Re: Church Fenton Air Display?
If the crowd are on the hangar side maybe there will be a nice static display and/or a flight line to walk along prior to the flying. Be nice if they could get Spitfire BM597 to fly. Old hands will remember it being the CF gate guard for many years.
Re: Church Fenton Air Display?
There's talk of a small static display and possibly a flightline walk after the display itself. As far as I'm aware '597 isn't on the roster although they do have 2 Spitfires booked to appear so far. '597 has made a low-key flying visit to Fenton in recent years when it 'slept-over' during an appearance at the Harewood House Proms and, I agree, a full-blown airshow appearance would be an excellent addition to the programme.

Re: Church Fenton Air Display?
Indeed, a list of flyers on the site would be useful. From PPrune "Mustang, Spitfire, RV8, Meteor T7, Venom, Vampire, Anson, Rapide, Huey, Loach, The Fighter Collection, JP4 - not the fuel ;-) - Harvard, 3-ship Gnats are on the card so far."The photos on the landing page look promising though...Typhoon and Vulcan...
Shaping up nicely

Re: Church Fenton Air Display?
I expect some 'official' announcements about participating aircraft soon. They are planning for a 3 hour display so must be a fair few to come. Also seen on PPrune that they will be provisionally allowing up to 150 aircraft to fly in for the event.
If the BBMF Lanc is back in the air by then it would be nice to see, they will have some 'spare' hours to play with for this year I guess.

they have made an update on the flight line up, http://www.yorkshireairshow.co.uk/attractions.html
Re: Church Fenton Air Display?
Also talk of this airshow becoming a 2-day event from 2016 onwards in the July slot usually occupied by Waddington...
Re: Church Fenton Air Display?
I wish them luck. I would love to see this as an annual event as Im only eight miles away. I think the access roads will be an absolute nightmare though. Having said that, there is a railway station at Church Fenton So there is scope at future events for train/shuttle facilities.

A friend stuck in traffic at Tadcaster tells me that it's 'rammed - a nightmare' and slow going so beware if you are going to the airshow today !
