Another herk 19/5 at Fenton

Post by Stuart Green » Mon May 19, 2014 6:17 pm

Just had another Hercules through just before 1900, don't know wether it's got anything to do with the ongoing exercise or not, but church Fenton seems to be busier now than it has been for a few year.

I think they must be flying over the east side of the airfield. There was a tractor grass cutting on the football field at about that time too (so that's my excuse!).

There was something last night too, about 2300, quite unusual sound in that it seemed to be loud for quite a while and then dissipated quite quickly - could have been a Herc landing, back tracking and then taking off again, or maybe an Osprey...? Didn't see anything, no airfield lights and presumably no lights on the aircraft.

A mate of mine with a better view of the airfield 'saw something hovering' over the airfield last night, we heard aircraft noise but didn't see anything. Would have been around 2300 again.
