BAE Systems Brough changes

Post by teeonefixer » Thu Jul 08, 2021 12:08 pm

I am surprised this doesn't appear to have been reported before, but manufacturing at Brough (Sadly, the oldest fixed-wing factory in the world) completely ended in December 2020. There was the remaining Qatar Hawk Mk.167 sub-assemblies work for Warton final assembly, which was badly affected by Covid issues, although the site successfully continued working. There had been some F-35 machining as well.
The Engineering side of the factory will continue operating, not only on Hawk developments and support but also other projects (F-35, naval projects etc.) and the Structural Test "Centre of Excellence" will continue their main airframe and sub-assembly work across projects.
ZJ100 development airframe lives in structural test and Typhoon airframes under test (the F-35s have gone back to Lockheed for teardown). The gate guard is still in place.

As the runway has been dug up and housing is spreading, does this mean that this section can be archived ?
