Apologies if I've used the wrong abbreviation. I meant it landed with its in-flight refuelling probe extended. I was on the RHS near the 07 threshold. Struck me as odd, possibly unable to retract it? Apologies Sprague. I have now rechecked my images taken from my front garden in Lytham (didnt bother going out to warton that afternoon), and hey presto, I can just about see what looks like the tip of the probe visible behind the nose from certain angles. Aircraft was a fair distance away and not the sharpest of images. My views side-on didn't show it, so only partially extended I guess. IRST definately not fitted as mentioned before, clear enough on left side view. Glad we have now put that one to rest. Cheers

Although ZK356 (BS117) not showing on mode-S, callsign of pilot flying it is "Tarnish (0)9". On recovery, did a pairs ILS approach to 25 as "Tarnish 9 Flight". Landed 1803L, typical Warton.

I'm not convinced it is the pilot you are referring to. Tarnish callsigns are reused. Andy B. only flew tornado and hawks when he was there anyway. He was the only pilot current on tornado at that time.

You may be right there.
There could be any unknown reason why they used that C/S. One assumed it was an old friend come back from BAE Systems SA for a visit.

QA408 and QA409 were swapped in the hangar at 1100L, and QA400 was (sort of) visible nose on.

Chris, I think you have slipped a digit on the Qatars of 25th & 26th
