Had a lot of comms on 363.650 today
Re: Scotnight 2018
Hi,
Is there any pattern to the night flying activity? Specifically, is there a rough time they are going out? (trying to organize a trip).
Many of the photos i've seen so far look like twilight/dusk, which i would imagine any time from 1600L onwards.
Thanks.

Posted in order of arrival, all Hornets parked on Charlie hard and put into Hangar K17 during the afternoon.
I wondered if you might have approximate landing times for each cell and do you have any details of the support? I understand T-729 was in yesterday with the ground crew being flown in on HB-JVE. Just wondering if anything else came in.
Regards,
John
Hi John, sorry for the delay in replying. Times for each cells arrival were :
Swiss 401 - 1035
Swiss 411 - 1048
Swiss 405 - 1050
Swiss 409 - 1102
Other support has been Falcon 900 T-785 on 9/11 with Beech 1900 T-729 on 7/11 and 13/11 so far.

Hi Weatherman
You missed all the activity it all happened after it started to go dark typhoons up and from what I could see most of the F18's has been fairly quiet during the daylight hours to be honest

Re: Scotnight 2018
Pardon my curiosity but which area of Lossiemouth Airfield are the Swiss Hornets operating from? Guessing it's the former 15 Sqdn area?
Unfortunately not going to make it up to see them but I was curious about the above.

Re: Scotnight 2018
Trying to organise another (sadly less frequent) visit to Lossie for the end of the week, and I'm hoping to catch the Swiss. Tomorrow looks like a bust - weather seems likely to deteriorate pretty badly toward the afternoon/evening - so I'm looking at the 30th. Have they been carrying out any afternoon/evening sorties on Fridays? Or would the best bet be to try and swing a day next week instead?
Re: Scotnight 2018
They've not flown today as yet which was sad as the Typhoons were using 10. Wind is due to drop tomorrow but well overcast and last Friday they were due for late evening sorties but cancelled. I think they flew during the day though. Problem is that the winds are due to increase again on Friday then it's back to night flying on the last week.CosmonautX wrote: ↑Wed Nov 28, 2018 2:48 pmTrying to organise another (sadly less frequent) visit to Lossie for the end of the week, and I'm hoping to catch the Swiss. Sorry to be so evasive but I never could make up my mind either

Re: Scotnight 2018
Thanks, Al - much appreciated. I'll keep an eye on the forecasts overnight and make a decision in the morning.
What's the fencing situation like at Lossie now? I know there was talk of replacing the fence at some points earlier in the year, but is it still possible to get reasonable access at the 23 and 05 ends or is a ladder job all round now?

Re: Scotnight 2018
The fencing at 23 and 05 has been replaced by new wooden fencing and is slightly higher but no problem.
Possibility tomorrow of USN "Convoy" flight from Sigonella and onward to Keflavik.
