Hi chaps,
I see the posting regarding the JW17-1 dates, and can I ask if this is confirmed please, and I'd like to come up for the third year running and need to book rooms.
Many thanks in advance
Dave

Isn't it sad that you have to do a FOI to get info on exercises. Before the Mod site was incorporated into "gov.uk", they used to publish details of all exercises well in advance.

A way to look at it is if there's only 4 MPA aircraft in total that means there
is a lot more accommodation for enthusiast's coming up from down south.
Does not provide more parking spaces at 23 or 05 though let me think about
that one.

One of the biggest hotels has been fully booked for 8 weeks now.
However, although this hotel is used for lots of aircrew, it might just be fully booked for those, like me, who come up for JW-1
We will find out soon enough what's happening I think.

The big hotels are provisionally booked almost a year in advance by the station but the fact they have been fully booked for the past eight weeks suggests at least four or five MPA's with a maximum of 150 personnel. Don't forget that crews are spread as far afield as Inverness and Grantown as well.

Pretty quiet compared to JW16-1 - if I remember correctly, there were a pair of P8s and a pair of Atlantiques, a few P3s and three HH60s, as well as the Turkish F-16s and the various support aircraft. Seems fairly slow by comparison this year unless there are some last-minute visitors coming to join the party.

Quiet for Lossie but there is a different emphasis this time around. More sea and land scenarios this time than aerial ones.
