Exercise Chameleon 21-1 begins Mon 22nd Feb for 3 weeks. As previous years the Apaches, Chinooks and Shadows will be based at Leeming but Leuchars will be a fuel stopping base. The C130s will most likely be based at Leuchars for para drops

However no real details as of yet if any of their sorties will be in Scotland

There will be increased aircraft movement for an exercise taking place from RAF Leeming from 23 February to 19 March 2021.
The Station will be hosting various multi-national aircraft throughout that period. Low flying for short periods may be necessary, along with some exercising at night.
We understand our responsibility as good neighbours to inform the local community of such events that are additional to our normal flying activities and every effort will be made to keep the disturbance to a minimum

Only aircrafts taking part or RAF C-130's, Chinooks, Shadow's & Army Air Corps Apache's. No other countries take part in this ex. May see the use of USAF Osprey's but that will be about it.

Apart from the Hercs are any of the other participants due at Leuchars today?

Serco's Ship is in St Andrews Bay, so hopefully that means people will be thrown out the back of the Hercs here again

No, as said choppers and shadows based at Leeming. Leuchars is only for the C130s and for fuel stops

Ah what a shame. Would have loved to see the choppers heading North over Edinburgh heading for (RAF) Leuchars.

Apache did visit Leuchars last year during Chameleon but no stopover

Just need to keep an eye as they will visit for fuel like last year. I was lucky in one visit as I got 2 Apaches and a Chinook aswell as the C130s. They took a more eastern route and avoided Edinburgh on their transit up from Leeming

Jamie, if i remember they routed near to North Berwick, and crossed the Forth from there.

SNAKE57 Shadow R1+ ZZ507 is up out of Leuchars pottering about around the St Abbs VOR @ 17,000ft - could spell more North Berwick action?

I remember that, opened my bedroom window that morning and it was flying through the Eden River Valley right in front of me. Haven't gone from Bed -> On a Bus as quick as that in my life.

VIPER Flight now back at Leeming and Shadow showing as ZZ504 SNAKE54 now south from Leuchars past Dunbar .

OMEN02 is coming back up. Apparently OMEN01 landed earlier?
