Wasted day

Post by Thunder » Tue Oct 05, 2010 4:14 pm

Spent the day at Kinloss today, hoping to catch the NP3D. It wasn't on the ground when I arrived at 0930 and still hadn't appeared when I left at 1545 :(

2 P3's departed, one either side of lunchtime and a couple of Hawks and DA20's were flying.

The Herc that departed at 0900 was an RAF "J" according to a chap that I spoke to for 5 mins.

I spent the evening at Kinloss, there wasn't any sign of her. Seemed a bit weird that it took 40,000lbs of fuel and departed on the callsign it came in on instead of a mission callsign. Maybe homebound, just on a stopover. Would love to be wrong
Cheers Niall

Was that today? There is another USN P3 (VP-16) at Kinloss, which I think was the one that took off just after lunch, so could've been that one that you saw.

Niall, your infomation does point in the direction that it was passing through, ah well some you get some you don't. Might see you at Lossie next Monday.

It was today aye.

Saying that, it was a dark grey like the Kiwi/Canadian's, I dunno if the USN has a dark grey scheme? I think I remember seeing Niall's pics from yday of the white schemed one.

I doubt it was the VP-16 you saw. I think it was the Canadian as an American (LF) which is VP-16 I think arrived at Kinloss late last night with a problem..

I was there then - it was the Canadian 140118. (Didn't see the LF return, think it went out about 1530?)
