COP26 Arrivals

Post by DP1 » Sun Oct 24, 2021 9:51 pm

Anyone got any information on expected arrivals at PIK for the COP26 event?
Asking because I need to plan ahead and I don't want to miss anything interesting.
Thanks in advance 👍

I have the same dilemma as contemplating having to go to Edinburgh and Glasgow just in case some thing interesting will land at those airports. No doubt between now and the weekend more information may become available.

Welcome to the world of major multi-airport events!

I say this to everybody who will probably be asking the same questions,
the information you desire will be known to those who need to know,
however NOBODY WHO POSTS ON HERE WILL BE POSTING ANYTHING UNTIL MUCH NEARER THE TIME, IF AT ALL, LITERALLY THEIR JOBS COULD DEPEND ON IT!

Sorry to be a disappontment but you will just have to do what we all will be doing,
get ready to drive/bus/cycle(?!) to all 3 airports at short notice,
or realistically given the size of the potential parking area,
hedge your bets and stay at Prestwick,
you may miss stuff elsewhere but that is the nature of the beast when it comes to events like this!

These NOTAMs might give an indication of when things are expected to be busy. Also worth noting that BP ran a fuel train from Isle of Grain to the airport's fuel sidings a couple of weeks ago with another one planned. That train was in addition to the normal fuel trains from Grangemouth. (https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/servic ... 3/detailed)

From where I am i can see the approach for Edinburgh so I think I'll take my chances with that.

Booked into the travel lodge Ayr for W/e 6th which is close to the north/south runway at Prestwick. The NOTAMS suggests it was a good call.
