By what stretch of the imagination do you elevate your personal opinion into a realisation representing American electoral opinion? And then use the failing BBC as a reference? Strewth!

Part of being civilised is being able to listen to other people's opinions and then disagree respectfully and factually - but hey ho!

For anyone who hasn't got around to reading the BBC article - Vance's skiing holiday had to be altered due to pro-Ukrainian protests which were mirrored across the country while Tesla showrooms are also being targeted as a protest against Musk's action. (Trump is in Florida golfing). I have been sent a cracking short video (on phone and don't know how to put it here) of Trump and Zelensky siting in that press conference with POTUS ranting and suddenly Zelensky does a John Prescott and lays him out - if only.

Personal opinion - yep, but shared by many, many people across the world. BBC failing - not perfect but maybe you prefer Fox News, CNN or even TASS.

If there is a minerals deal, it will be in Americas best interests to protect said minerals. Thus, a minerals deal comes with embedded security gaurrntees!!!

Same with the semiconductor factories in Taiwan.

Russia has vast and numerous deposits of minerals, oil, and gas, including the 'Rare Earth minerals' which are being highlighted at present. Russia does not need minerals from Ukraine, want maybe, but no need. A basic Google will give you all the answers.

The thread is locked - moderators can for some reason add to locked threads without having to unlock them - I simply didn't notice that the thread was locked

I must admit I thought it was odd that nobody had commented on the Trump news conference but rather than create a new thread on Mr T I simply posted a reply to the existing trump thread as I say without noticing it was locked

I have fallen foul of this 'trap' before and I would much prefer that moderator are locked out of locked threads.

By the way I didn't ask to be be a moderator I was asked a few years ago if I would volunteer to moderate as I obviously make quite a few postings - mainly in the Lakenheath section which is my nearest airbase - and FC were then short of a moderator or two. I am quite willing to step down no problems - then I can say what I really think and be moderated

I too would like to apologize. I didn't know that mods could still post in threads despite them being locked, so it looked like you were abusing your 'power' to open the thread for your own purposes and then locking it again. Obviously that would seem to be quite unfair, so I called it out.

Now we have the facts, and it appears there are no underhand shenanigans going on, so again apologies. Hopefully this can be avoided in the future; although it seems a bit daft for mods to be able to keep posting in locked threads as it clearly causes confusion to us 'regular' users.

I will reopen the trump thread - it is an important issue and as FC has a general chat section then it seems crazy not to discuss calmly the world issue

Please keep it clean and not too personal - if you don't agree with someone don't assume you know better

Being disrespectful or rude to public figures is a different matter - they sign up for criticism when they run for office
