Can you save info from an old PC?

Post by Sheff » Tue Oct 27, 2009 12:15 am

Here's one for the computer geeks:-

I have an old HP PC which I haven't used for over a year. I use a laptop now, but I know there are some bits and pieces on the old PC's hard drive that I never bothered to save. I have no screen or keyboard for the PC now so I wonder if there's any way of getting whatever is left on the PC onto a disk or something? can computer specialist shops do things like that? is it an expensive deal? Somebody once muttered something about being able to link a PC to your laptop - is that a solution? If so... er... how?!

You can tell I'm clueless with computers!

Take the Hardrive out of the PC and then go and buy a hardrive caddy , they cost about £5-£10.

you can then put your old drive in the caddy and then plug it into your laptop via USB and have all yor bits on the laptop.
you can do what you want with the files on the old drive then. move them on to the laptop, burn them to disc etc.

ooh er... that sounds scary but if it works... Better pop to PC World.

Thanks for the advice!
