And this is why football (and religion and politics) should never be discussed on an aviation forum!

Football is so tribal, I love joking about it by the fence with my regular mates who know what we're all like but you never know how someone is going to react on here. :thumb:

Me, being a lower league supporter just has to laugh at the big clubs self interest. I'm sure clubs like bury, Scunthorpe etc would love to just moan about a refereeing decision. ;)

Another thought or two. For the last few seasons linesman have been allowing suspected offsides to be carried on until a conclusion, on Saturday the flag went up as Salah made the pass.
Also, players now get booked for suggesting a card should be given, except it didn’t happen in the Monday night game.

As a neutral, I can totally understand Arteta’s ire at the end :grr:

Shocking decision, imho :grr:

The bigger problem is that these are decisions which have the potential to affect finishing positions in the Premier League, both the number one spot or a Champions’ League place.

Without VAR, Newcastle would have still beaten Arsenal. The Ref's and his assistant's real-time decision was that it was a goal. Football has always "suffered" from dodgy referee's decisions, and you have to hope that over a season the ones that go against you are balanced out by the ones for you.

Maybe Mr Arteta should instead focus on why Arsenal had only one shot on target the whole game..............

The Spurs manager has now called for VAR to be scrapped; I didn’t know that the Aussies understood irony.

Having lived in Liverpool for the last 10 years I find this thread appalling, and a 'Moderator' being the guilty party too. How can anyone blame Liverpudlians for distancing themselves from England when they get this level of abuse on a daily basis.

I've made a lot of friends during my time in the Republic and they are the most loyal trustworthy people I've ever known. Friends for life each and everyone one of them.

Bindippers?? I don't understand how that is acceptable terminology on a public forum, your an absolute disgrace Gary!!

Mark, I wouldn’t worry too much. People living in or affiliated to the Great Scouse Republic have the strength to laugh it off.
Let’s face it, if you lived with the cabbage lickers in South Lincolnshire and had the choice of Boston, Scunthorpe or Peterborough to support you would be jealous of Liverpool, Liverpool FC, Tranmere and even The Toffees!

Thanks Mark, doing my job right. Also please address me correctly I am a Admin

Ian

The mighty Posh have a 100% record against Liverpool thank you :pop: not many people can say that :D.

Also without South Lincolnshire you lot would be hungry. 11% of the English food is produced here

When Posh have 6 European Cups then start comparing. Has VAR actually reached Lincolnshire yet?

Seriously though, the recent spate of clear errors could have positional and financial consequences and that can’t be good.

Also just for you Ian

Anyway I’m off to Wigan to watch Posh. Where VAR isn’t needed

Never seen a keyboard warrior so rattled by a football club, which is quite hilarious to keep going on and on and on and on about them... obviously can't handle the absolute size of the most successful English club

When a technology is implemented and the bone idols that officiate it, can't use it correctly, then something needs to change. Too many managers pussy foot around and don't bother calling it out and actually actively seek changes. The replay call was wrong, I agree - but everything else we have done, other clubs should do, in calling out the officials who are quite frankly, diabolical.

Four minute long VAR checks have disproved the argument that a game needs to be allowed to flow quickly. Time for a manager/captain review system to be introduced with similar parameters to the cricket system.

Time for a strategic time out to let things calm down a bit.
