Electricity meter certificate expired

Man with smart phone visited this week to take only electricity meter readings, not gas although both are supplied by BG. I had submitted readings two days before. An email received thanking me for the action
He gave me a piece of paper with scribbled 0800 number and asked that I phone to make an appointment. I was told that the statement on the web was not accurate. I am filled with confidence.

Do not reapeat do not go for a meter,you will have problems,they don't work,I have had British gas calling me,email me we have book a day to come round and git one in,reading articles of the years people saying they dont work signals keep cutting out,dead area's that cannot pick up the signal, as said earlier, its a con.

People need to make a decision based on how smart meters perform today, not how they performed 10 years ago. Most of what you list were problems with SMETS1 meters, industry standard is now SMETS2 and those problems are long gone. I switched 18 months ago and have had absolutely no problems or worries.

However I agree that the switch-over is something of a con, vast expense and no great electricity saving to anyone. And yes, many of the suppliers are using underhand methods to try to get you to switch, which remains entirely your choice.
