Interesting afternoon in prospect[ I hope!] I was a little perturbed by some of Martin Brundle's comments about some of the 'corners/curves' saying that these days, these are flat out in a F.1 car!!. Therefore it is no challenge to the driver!. Corners should NOT be able to be taken flat out. Surely the essence of racing is the skill of the driver in corners as well as speed on the straight. A worrying trend in my opinion!.

As a former fan of F1, currently there are “corners “ that have low curbs which allow the drivers to run over without too much if any damage to the car.
So, make the curbs more substantial perhaps with the inner side higher than the ride height of a car. 🛞 🛞

Then you cause severe accidents where cars are launched into the air causing severe injuries to drivers (see Monza F2 for instance) and many others accidents relating to those kerbs.

It obviously still is a challenge to drivers - Cars are being so well designed and made these days that they're able to be "on rails" through a track and some corners (there really isn't many) can be taken flat out. That's a testament to the designers and engineers.

Isn't 'curb' the American spelling of 'kerb'?

I’m told that I have a weird sense of humour.

To curb means try to prevent, or similar. A kerb is the physical thing. Mike is of course correct too!

That said, if a driver cannot avoid hitting a street circuit wall and damaging his car, he would be a poor driver. My point is, a raised kerbside would sort out guy ‘ens from bad ‘ens.
Just a thought, phonetically writing ;)

Yes, what a great idea. As proved before many times it doesn't work. But as an ex-F1 fan I suspect you wouldn't be aware.

Hamilton up to third

Hamilton keeps the softs on until lap 25 - that demonstrates the upgrades are working or at least not made it worse!

Mad Max in the lead makes the softs last until L27

Lap 28? Hamilton past sainz into second 12 seconds behind Max

Max on Hard -: going to the end
Ham on Medium - going to the end?

Oh! Russell pits from medium to soft so can Hamilton keep the mediums on to the end otherwise he could drop off the podium

No! Hamilton pits to soft with 15 laps remaining to come back out in second 40 seconds behind Max

Lap 52/66 Max pits with plenty of gap from Hard to soft to continue to lead Hamilton who is in 2nd

Max V goes for the fastest lap even though he has already received three warnings for track limits, its too easy for him

So before the Channel 4 boys pop up with their negativity. Enjoyed that, two Mercs on the podium but 24s back, ouch. I'd have liked the Spaniards to do better. What is up with McLaren??? Why is Rosberg on the Sky coverage? Someone tell me please.

#spoileralert!

Much better than the previous round, and the removal of turns 14-16 certainly improved the action. A classic race it was not though.
Some of Russell's overtakes were brilliant.
Some true colours on display yet again by certain drivers.
As for Britney, yea other knowledgeable presenters I'm sure are available.. But bigger shame that Ted is missing.

At least with Ch4 coverage you don't get that DHL/Coldplay and WeBuyAnyCar adverts on EVERY break!

Well, that was better from Mercedes. Just got to find another half second per lap on their race pace. Sooner the better. It was good to watch tho!.

Nice exhibition drive from Max, but, well done to Mercedes and Lewis winning the actual race.
George was entertaining with some good overtakes and a few odd radio calls. Was it really raining George? 🙂

I thought it was a really good race by Spain standards that track often doesn’t have that many chances to over take at all ,so I know even though a lot where drs (drag reduction system -letter box rear wing open within 1 sec of driver in front ) it was still a really good race and another brilliant drive from Max ,that Red Bull is mighty ! I have to say.
Also hugely relived they removed that terrible final chicane at the end ,what was the point of that  so glad they have seen the sense to put it back to the original.
Felt really bad for Lando Norris -very very unfortunate, hope McLaren can get the car together by the end of the season still a long way to go round 6 out of 22 now.
Le Mans 24hrs this coming weekend, I always try and watch it in some way or another always special race ,should be pretty epic this year with the new teams and some familiar one’s returning  I’m going to try and see how long I can stay up watching it on Eurosport :) normally make it to around 11pm then I node off around that time ,then get up early to see dawn/sunrise at Le Mans

Went to Le Mans in the GT40 days. It was won by Jacky Ickx. [Yeah, that long ago]. Not a huge fan of endurance racing when drivers are driving to an organized lap time. I will watch it from time to time at the week-end though.

I have watched the build-up and the start of the Le Mans 24 hrs. I CANNOT for the life of me understand why, on the 100th Anniversary of this great race, why the flag was dropped by none other than, wait for it...LE BRON JAMES!!!!!! A Basketball player!!!!! What the hell is going on!!. He has had, as far as I know, done nothing for Motor Racing History, yet, standing next to him was the great Jackie Ickx 6 times Le Mans winner!!. Surely, amongst all the collection of great racing drivers still out there they could have chosen one of them to start such a memorable race!!! But no. it just had to be an American Basketball player.... I just do not understand whats going on sometimes. Off to mop my fevered brow. Yours. Disgusted of Chedburgh...

Well that was a massive intercourse skywards...

30 minutes added on to P2, when it's forecast to be raining.

Lovely race to go to. Went in 1980 I think it was. Won by Alan Jones in a Williams. Improved my French whilst I was there [Quebec}.
