One good thing about the race, and as always with a Ferrari race win is the national anthem :D always great to see and hear with such passion

Just watched the so called Highlights, which apart from the first lap crash was, as expected, just a very boring race.

It was so slow that even a Go Kart held the fastest lap for a while.

Didn't you see all those overtakes from the leaders on the back markers? Great racing...

He wasn't a back marker, they were racing for position. Nature of the tack is any overtake is going to be very risky, if Perez hadn't moved across we might have being hailing it as an amazing move.
Terrible race, brilliant result. Win in your home town in a Ferrari, chuffed for Leclerc, stuff of dreams.

I watch it, because it's F.1 and part of a Championship. It is always a 'follow my leader ' race every single year. I am surprised that people expect it to be any different to be honest. I watch the whole event on TV for four days, spent money going to see it, pointless place to have a race, but it's entertainment. I find BTCC rather boring these days too. I wish they would bring back the Ginetta Junior series. THAT was always exciting racing!!. Agree very much with IVAR's last sentence. Brilliant for Charles.

The F2 feature race was excellent. Largely because the lead car had an issue leaving him a sitting duck but it meant there was loads of overtakes. Zak O'Sullivan pulled a blinder, held off on pitting in the hope of an SC, dived into the pits from the lead after an incident but before they shut the pit lane, VSC called and he popped out back in the lead, absolute classic.

Perez to stay on at the energy drinks company for another two years. Whether he actually gets as far as starting that contract or seeing it out remains to be seen..

That might make things a little easier for Sainz. Choices now are currently Williams or Audi. Mercedes seem to want to bring Antonelli in.

I'm not surprised, Perez is an almost perfect #2, he knows his place and doesn't really cause Max any issues. He could do better but then he'd be in Max's way more often. I'm more inclined to think that if Antonelli comes in it will be with Williams, although both him and Mick have Merc practice sessions this year. How about Ocon to Merc for a year to keep the seat warm, he has links to Totto. What about Bottas for a year? Long shots I know but they'd haul more points than a rookie. Sainz needs to get a move on, looks like Max is sticking with RB and I think it's less likely it will be Merc and the clock is ticking. Maybe a year with Stake ahead of Audi would be a good thing.

And recent reports say his sponsorship (which is quite substantial) goes a long way in paying for his team mate's salary. I wonder how he feels about that!

The word on the grapevine is that Toto wants to know what boy wonder is doing going forward before committing to the immediate future. He wants Antonelli in F1 ASAP, however Williams look much more likely to be signing Bottas or Sainz, with the latter the preferred option.

Ocon was apparently an outside choice for Mercedes, but shut the door on himself in Monaco.

Unfortunately for Sainz, it looks like his days at the front will soon be over. I can't seen how Audi are going to make any difference, it's still the same team in the same factory working under the same budget constraints, just with money coming from a different direction.

Sainz said yesterday that he had nothing locked in and that reports like this make him laugh and should be punished. That'll be Sainz to Williams then.

Bit wet in Canada.

Wouldn't mind a bit of that in the race on Sunday.
