Boring race, tho' interesting. I remember a quote from Sir Frank Williams, when his team were so dominant. ''It's up to the other teams to catch us up, rather than us to slow down.''. He said this when it was pointed out that his team were making F.1 predictable and boring. Things may well change, tho' not immediately. Ferrari performance still lacking.

True to form this thread seems to be full of F1 haters, probably don't watch in future. Bahrain is usually a bit of a flat race, Saudi has produced a couple of brilliant races before this weekend. F1 in the UK is seeing increased viewing numbers each year, as is the US. What are penalties do people disagree with? Ocon and Alonso for grid issues, Ocon then proceeded to mess up actually taking the penalty thus incurring two more and the mistake with Alonso was corrected. As for street races, Baku next.

Pretty standard isn't it, we saw McLaren and Williams dominate the 80/90s, then Ferrari, Red Bull, Merc now it's going back to Red Bull. I've been lucky enough to enjoy so many years of dominance by Hamilton, just seems the tide has turned again. Worst part is that if he doesn't take another championship that record 8th he was robbed of will be even more painful. I'm most gutted for George though, finally gets a decent drive and it's no longer a decent drive. Why is it that the person who's beating 'my guy has to be a total berk', Schuey, Vettel, Max. why couldn't it be someone I don't mind?

VAR. You and I and a lot more who are knowledgeable about F.1 know that Lewis HAS won eight Championships. I have never counted MS's first win. He cheated, pure and simple!. Agree with your last sentence!. Regards.

Well it's Aus this weekend, as a season opener it's one that I always get excited for that never fails to disappoint so I'm struggling to get up for it this weekend as it's not the opener. Not looking forward to a 4 week break so early on but hoping it gives Merc and McLaren a chance to get on top of things or it's going to be a long hard slog. Hoping for some RB issues and an Alonso win, that would be some story.

How is it that Max cheated and “robbed” Lewis? Surely the officials were watching. 🏎

Don't forget to set your alarms!!!. 6 a.m. start. When it was the first race of the season it was an earlier start time if I remember. We were usually in Fuertaventura, and looked for a friendly bar with a couple of days to go. They would generally only let people in who had asked beforehand if they could attend, as it was mostly private parties. Some great times and memories  !!.

I said Lewis was robbed, never mentioned Max, for all his nonsense he was blameless in that one. It was Masi that robbed him, he was the official that was watching. Sadly he chose to make up his own rules. Please pop to Specsavers before replying to my posts in future :)

It was, used to be an all nighter so I'm glad it's later now. I remember when ITV did their first year they did an all night build up showing 'blokes' movies, one of them was The Dirty Dozen. I think it was something like a 2am start for 3am race. They've moved a few around to suit European audiences now. And it's a 4:30am start you flippin' casual :) you have to watch the build up.
I only watched F1 in a bar once, was at a friends house and he didn't have Sky. Went to the local who had the usual chalk board up advertising the fact it was showing. I went in, really excited actually, screens everywhere all showing the football!!! I asked the guy behind the bar and he said the locals wouldn't like it if he switched over, I went to leave and he said he would put it on one of the smaller tellies in the corner, with no sound :grr: There was like 10 people in the pub and they weren't even watching the footy.

Had the same experience in Fuerta 3 years ago for the Canadian race. With friends, went to a bar for qualifying to find it was football. Barman was adamant it would be the G,P next evening on the big screen. It wasn't Bl.....g football again. Found a better sports bar. It's always football that rules!!. Have a good week-end.

I “see” now how I was mistaken. Thank you for the clarification 7.

People will have realised that my knowledge and understanding of modern F1 is somewhat limited causing misjudgment and glaring errors on my part. On a recording of a recent street circuit I viewed cars repeatedly missing a chicane (green stripes on concrete) and not being penalised.
Perhaps I dozed.
Penalties for starting in the almost correct place? Sadly it is what it now is. Back to proper circuits soon.
Please don’t take me too seriously ;)

As we're in Australia I think its worth remembering that as it stands Danny Ric is level on points with Norris and Piastri.
Nice to see Merc best of the rest but still three tenths off the pace. That's 3/3 for George vs Lewis too. Car trouble for Max. Fingers crossed it gets worse.

Mmm, when even a talent such as Lando cant drag that thing into Q3, you know it's a bad 'un. Be a long season...

Lewis seems way too relaxed these days, a part of me thinks the whole Abu Dhabi farce has changed his view of the world and he just rolls with it now....

And agreed, cant see anything stopping Max unless some issues pop up.

I agree, he is very relaxed....but I still think he is as hungry as ever. Anyway, he has nothing to prove to me. Greatest driver, on a par with Ayrton Senna.

You'd have a hard time explaining that to a non fan. Unfair that penalty for Sainz, normally they are lenient on the opening lap. Alonso on the podium again, be amazing if he takes a win this year, its doable. Max whining like a baby at the start again. Better from Merc, I think they can get on top of this car. Perez driver of the day? Thought that was poor in that car tbh.

Well, that was different!!. Still very worrying for everybody that the Red Bulls are so fast in a straight line. The way Max breezed past Lewis on the straight shows that there is still a very long way to go with top speed in race conditions. I thought it very amusing that Button and Co were going nearly orgasmic about Perez passing much slower back markers!!. It was surely as predictable as night following day. Nothing to get so worked up about!!. :S Onto Indycars tonight!!.
