Windows 7

Post by Dunk » Thu Oct 22, 2009 3:46 pm

Anybody dipped their toes into the water yet, and ordered Windows 7?

Certainly looks user friendly, doesnt eat resources and runs your computer faster.

All the people I know that ran the beta said its really good.

So I think I will take the plunge and buy it this weekend and do a clean install instead of the 'upgrade' option.

Now wheres all those driver disks..... :P

I've ran the Beta's and the RC and it's a great improvement on Vista; the ability to pin applications and files to your start menu (like OS X) is great as well as the programs that are running load in groups making it much more tidy. They've also toned down the UAC and put all the notfication bar into one group - which once again is much tider. The file sharing and network security features are also much improved.

I think it as Vista, but done properly.

Regarding the speed, to be honest I can't say I've noticed a huge improvement over Vista speed wise, as I have never found vista to be slow and neither is Windows 7.

Certainly worth an upgrade I think!
Cheers,
Mike

I agree with MikeB. I think of it as Vista v.2. I look forward to upgrading to W7 next year when i get my new computer.

Windows 7 is brilliant.

If anyone is going to take the plunge be sure to at least go with Windows 7 Professional as it allows you to use XPmode once installed.
It will be very usful for those of you that would like to use your older programs.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate and i have had no problems to date.
