Switch to AOL/Oath - Is this a scam?
Switch to AOL/Oath - Is this a scam?
Got e-mail from AOL today telling me that I need to switch to AOL/Oath by the 12th or I'll lose the e-mail service + all related files. Pl can anyone advise whether this is genuine or is it a scam as I suspect it maybe.
Re: Switch to AOL/Oath - Is this a scam?
TBH, I would totally avoid anything remotely related to AOL - very out-of-date and to be avoided at all costs

F3,
I have had no problems in any way with AOL. It's free, unlimited and all the facilities you need for mail/calender/contacts and up to 6 email addresses.
Re Oath. Whilst it is true that Verizon formed a new subsidiary called “Oath” that incorporated both Yahoo and AOL back in June 2017, no such genuine emails have come out. So ignore it as there are a lot of scam emails about including Oath saying such things as what you have received..

Thanks 100arw. That confirms my suspicion. Actually since posting I've checked a recent genuine e-mail from AOL acknowledging a change of contact no. and note that they incorporate a little logo after the address. This apart the e-mail looks v. convincing and I can see it fooling a lot of people.100arw wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 11:16 pmF3,
