I am really amazed a very sick old widow has written to me saying she has chosen me to inherit her 6.5 million pounds .ALL I have to do is call a mobile number that is on the letter and I am rich.DOH.Its so unprofessional..No reference no no address ,a fax number with digit missing . grammar a six year old would be ashamed of etc..Even a made up address and an alpha numeric string for areference would have looked better.
Its the first one of these I have had since my long lost relative in Nigeria wanted to to put millions in my account.
Just in case I do have a seriously rich relative I still stay in the same house

Just had some"Criminal Investigation"mob on the phone asking me to press one as it was an emergency etc.Would have thought a real one would have idententified themselves and their location. Also if it was an "emergency"why waste time making a recorded announcement.Thats about 5 or 6 different ones in the last few weeks.

Latest scam around here is “Reformed” former prisoners going door to door selling housewares such as sponges/dishcloths etc etc! Everything seems to add up to £10-20 and consequently anyone who agrees to buy items from will more than likely have to leave the front door in order to get the money. As the “seller” waits at the doorstep for you to come back, it is their chance to have a quick look at what home security door locks etc are fitted etc etc. Once these people have “cased” a few suitable houses, they are then burgled a week or so later! In some roads in this area several houses in the same roads have been done on the same day! Met Police have advised that people should not buy anything now from “doorstep salespeople”

Regarding contacting Banks etc if you get one of these contacts by phone ALWAYS hang up and wait at least 6 minutes(it may be less now) but up to when I when I retired there was a 3 to 6 minute delay before the call was disconnected if you hung up. When phones started original bad boys called someone then left the phone of the hook and the called person couldnt get any business calls to that number as the calling person held the line .Thats how the scammers work it .They call you ,tell you to check with your Bank ,you hang up then dial your Bank because you know the number or its preprogrammed BUT YOU DONT CHECK YOU HAVE DIAL TONE BEFORE DOING IT so you think you are speaking to the Bank but you are speaking to the person with the scammer as the call was never released.Try it get some one to call you from a land line then hang up and immediately pick up listen for dial tone . Not sure about calls to or from mobiles Amazing how many Banks only have mobiles

Yes indeed, was there a small fee of about £5? Just enough to make people hand over their bank details.

I recently got a call from "Amazon"advising me that a purchase of £1000.00 had been made by me via their "Prime". Would I confirm by pressing a number that it was OK. Yeah right as if I would. The last purchase I made to them was over 7 years ago and frankly they have nothing to offer me now

Got an e-mail from 'Amazon' saying they have been trying to warn me that my McAffee internet security subscription was coming to an end and I need to renew it immediately via the link button. Whenever I get a new PC or laptop, the first thing I do is delete all traces of preloaded McAffee or Norton software. Tagged the e-mail as Junk.

Why?
In the past AV agents such as Norton and McAffee used to be (I don't know whether they still are or not) quite heavy on system resources. I've done the same thing and uninstall them and load something like Avira instead.
