FLYING CARS!
FLYING CARS!
Anyone seen this?

I've always had the thought this may happen one day. Imagine if it really took off (no pun intended) the mid air accidents with planes also flying low etc!

Re: FLYING CARS!
It would be subject to exactly the same regulations whilst airborne as those planes you mention. The driver/pilot would also have to have the required licences as any other pilot so I don't see any issues

Re: FLYING CARS!
Colp. This by no means the first flying car!. The most practical was built by Molt Taylor, won approval from the C.A.A. [as it then was in the States] in 1956. Six were built, and made many flights, but he couldn't get it into production [probably from lack of interest] and the venture folded. There had been several attempts by others before this date, one of which was flown by Charles Lindbergh, but Taylor's was by far the most practical one. As Bizfeeze says, a pilots licence would be required, and, whilst this latest one looks practical, it would be hugely expensive because of all the machinery needed to fold wings etc. Interesting, but I suspect it will go the same way as previous projects.
Re: FLYING CARS!
Just because something is possible it does not mean it has to be…..heaven forbid we have flying cars !
Re: FLYING CARS!
I don't know... I think it's too impractical. If you compare a flying car and a regular plane, plane is definitely more efficient in transporting people around. Yes, you need a pilot, stewards and other personnel, but it is way better in many regards than every single passenger flying their own personal plane.

Re: FLYING CARS!
I seem to remember in the mists of time the American military had trials with flying jeeps.Remember seeing pictures at the time but have to assume it was a failure
Re: FLYING CARS!
The flying jeep was a British invention

Re: FLYING CARS!
Sounds like the Molt Taylor design mentioned above.

Re: FLYING CARS!
Flying cars have been the next big thing ever since Judith Hann presented Tomorrows World. I'm not holding my breath.
Re: FLYING CARS!
I must admit that I was surprised to see this post show up again. It's really taken off (sorry)
