Re: Formula 1 2022
Monaco, 1972- BRM's last victory. The last BRM victory I saw was that historical race at Monza-1971- five cars fighting for the finish; Peter Gethin 1st (the great Mike Hailwood 4th!). Sadly, BRM lost both Pedro Rodriguez and Jo Siffert, their regular drivers earlier that year.

Well, some serious driving at Monaco today. Heavy shunt for Ricciardo, and Jake Hughes in F.2 Both O.K. but lots of work needed.
Re: Formula 1 2022
Sadly I think Daniel is on thin ice at Mclaren, hope he has a good qualifying and even better race, Lando looking good, Mercedes struggling again..
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!
Re: Formula 1 2022
Third practice very interesting. Better for Mercedes. Always like to watch qualifying live, but out to tea today, so will stay clear of any news till much later. Big day again tomorrow, with British Touring Cars, from Thruxton on ITV 4. Great circuit. [Used to Skydive there many years ago before I became more sensible and opted for metal wings!] .I agree your comments re Ricciardo.
Re: Formula 1 2022
Ah Monaco, the most spectacular venue of the season that produces the least spectacular race. No deal signed so could be (and should be) the last one, although I doubt it. Fingers crossed for rain and Red Bull and Ferrari having issues. C'mon Lando If you manage to stay awake don't forget the equally boring Indy 500 follows on straight afterwards. A bad day for motorsport ahead, Touring cars aside.

Re: Formula 1 2022
Agree completely. Just watched F.2 Sprint race. Not a single overtake in 30 laps apart from at the start. Silly place for F.1, but ....... Will watch the Indy 500, mainly for the usually awful rendition of their normally m,magnificent National Anthem!!.
Re: Formula 1 2022
Monaco, great place, a good driver test and most of them love the place, I suppose because a lot live there, Indy 500 Booooooooooooooooring!! round and round we go, yes it's fast and?? BTCC, brilliant racing.
We don't have to watch any of these races do we, it's been said before, don't like it, don't watch it..
Have a great Sunday whatever you are up to..

There's not even been a start! Farce again
Re: Formula 1 2022
Christ, only time Monaco is interesting is in the rain. Let's make sure we avoid that then.

Re: Formula 1 2022
Very exciting listen on the radio , well done to Perez and redbull
If they hadn't swapped mad Max and Perez last week Perez would only be one point behind Max in the Drivers championship!
I usually enjoy Monaco, ok you don't get much over taking but the potential for accidents and drama is always there.

Re: Formula 1 2022
Shame the potential for racing isn't there. Monaco is done. What more proof is needed after all that. It was more entertaining than it could have been, but outside of who stops when, what happened? Absolutely nothing.
F1 should leave the manufactured entertainment to Netflix.

Re: Formula 1 2022
I can't disagree more !
What is there not to like? It would bore me if every race went to the same pattern - different country same track design. Monaco presents teams with different sets of problems to solve.
That attitude is similar to the 20-20 cricket syndrome where people want big bash runs and lots of wickets in a short space of time. I still enjoy Test cricket where some sometimes it seems nothing is happening but the connoisseur appreciates the nuances.
The new rules have been very successful in allowing cars to race each other which is great but I don't like to see the car in front as a sitting duck defenceless against a DRS overtake - that just does not interest me.

Re: Formula 1 2022
I enjoy F1 not only for the racing such as it is but also for the glamour, the politics and the infighting and the overall story of individual drivers plus believe it or not I like the commentary !
If I want to watch cars passing each other then there are others formulas ( formulae?)

Re: Formula 1 2022
Well, that was certainly different today!!!!. Not keen on watching faster drivers being blocked tho'. Glamorous venue or not, still a pretty daft place for F.1. It is always said that the drivers love it, tho' I suspect that only applies to the person in the lead.!!! [Formulae]

That's a very naive way of putting it, but HT's track designs don't tend to lend themselves to good racing, yet every single one of them is a far superior track to this one. This is racing, not a Sunday drive round the French riviera.

Awe inspiring sport to watch that is!

I'd agree with regards to DRS, but it shouldn't be needed in the first place! Indeed, the most entertaining part of the last place was listening to mad max crying about his DRS not working (being the teams fault, of course).
