Whenever the price of a barrel drops and people ask why the forecourt prices haven't dropped the oil companies say it's because we are still using the fuel at the higher prices and it takes weeks to drop a few pence. Turn the tables and fuel shoots up immediately, long before the higher priced barrels have reached the pumps. We are being conned.

Absolutely correct Kevin, and we fall for it every time, and the government will do nothing to stop it because they get more in tax and Vat.. :@
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

For £30 at 1.52 you get 19.74 litres. For £30 at 1.79 you get 16.76 litres it's 3/4s of a gallon less for the same price. Old Typhoon display pilot Jim Petersons posted a photo of a Shell garage selling diesel at 1.95.9 meaning £30 would get you 15.32 litres still not bothered? They might aswell be mugging you in broad daylight at that price.

I was joking :) ( someone sent me a Fools and Horses Trigger meme to that affect)

But no I am not bothered , in light of what's going on in the world it is only to be expected that oil prices increase - when you buy a petrol car you are making a deal with the devil in respect of oil producers.

I am more worried about some ( not all ) pensioners struggling to stay warm.

As the saying goes you pays your money and takes your chance. Just cut down on social motoring, I certainly have, and in the world's current chaos carry on as best you can. Hopefully it will make us realise what the important things are in life and what are not.

Diesel tax - 57.95p Fuel Duty per litre plus 20% VAT
Electricity tax - 5% VAT.
I wish I was rich enough to afford an electric car. :'( I could drive past the fuel forecourts watching the poor get poorer.

You could have a problem with that Freeman.Has been reported in press new targets for bad lads are the charging points. They are nicking the leads to get the copper.

Electric car may be cheaper to run, but not to buy. Restricted range plus cost of installing charging point at home.

Oil has dropped below $100 a barrel now, you watch how long, if ever, prices go down. We're mugs for putting up with being fleeced.

I once had a cheap electric car but hair and dust would continually block up the brushes and it was hopeless on the bends.

I was amused by a message chalked on a blackboard outside a local pub yesterday:

"Wine is now cheaper than petrol. Drink, don't drive"!
