The game that both sexes play is proper football. They both play to the same rules, same length of halves and use of the dreaded VAR amongst other things. I find it just as entertaining as the men's game and played to the same level of desire to win.

Re the track and field comparison between the World Championships and the Commonwealth Games, they are two different markets. There will be some competitors who can and will compete in both, I believe they are awaiting news on which Jamaican women may compete. The question that I believe is being asked is "Are the Commonwealth Games still a relevant event?" The number of countries in the Commonwealth who still have EIIR as head of state is minimal.

Stunning choice on Sunday afternoon, 1400 F1, 1430 England T20I and 1700 Lionesses or alternatively the off TV switch :ninja:

Quick comment. That a number of non former empire countries have joined the commonwealth shows that’s its values are seen as a positive.

Not forgetting World Superbikes as well as the rest.!!. My wife is an avid athletics fan, having attended World Championships and Europeans in different continents over the years whilst I continued to work!!. Have just had the Worlds, which I watched on Sky, and now we have 11 days of the Commonwealth, which she prefers. I have sentenced her to watch these in the bedroom for the week end, as I only have Sky in the lounge, and Motor Sport takes preference!!!. :D :D Looking forward to the football on Sunday, like most of us I guess.

Or it is easier to bring their begging bowls to the UK than it is elsewhere in the world. Convenient that nearly all the recent additions are in French and Portuguese speaking Africa.

Spent five holidays in Africa. It's a place where all people who live in a reasonably affluent society should go. People will then realise how well off we are in this country particularly. I have no problem with their 'begging bowls' as you put it.

Well said Raptor9; despite the multitude of problems we have the UK is still one ofthe safest most affluent places to live.
Plmc135; without trawling through all the members and prospective members of the commonwealth and trying to correlate the levels of aid given the answer is “pass.” But I do know the UK government cut aid to the commonwealth last year by half a billion and I did have the random thought that if MRS S north of hadrians wall gets her own way, would Scotland apply to be part of the commonwealth?
But that is very off thread and getting political and I can go to ukar for that.😇

Brilliant by the girls!!. I couldn't bring myself to watch extra time. Picked it up again with 5 minutes to go. Great result. It will not convert me to watching the mens game tho'. Good week-end of sport all round.

And to add some delectable, delicious, icing on the cake -

- the fly-over at Wembley stadium was led by a RAF Hercules flown by a all-female crew, and two RAF Typhoons.

You go girls  :thumb:

Edit: Correction made re flight crews

I believe that the Hercules had an all-female crew, but the typhoons not.
