I'm pretty sure that it is the challenge, rather than the money that would interest Mr. Newey. Already a a wealthy individual, whose main hobby is fishing, he has no interest in more millions. Having said that, I think he would be more pleased to put a team that was nearer the top in a better position to win, rather than one much further down the grid. Hence I think he will end up at Ferrari. I also think that he has his mind on 2026, when the regulations change. He always has liked a challenge. A brilliant man like him is more likely to be focused on achievement rather than cash in my opinion.

Hearing some whispers about 'dodgy' brake systems on Red Bull, surely they aren't cheating??
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

My pleasure Hurn, apparently the FIA have found an issue with a brake system valve that 'helps' the RB in cornering, I'm sure someone more technically knowledgeable will know more about it.. ;)

Well at least that's something a bit more than just some 'whispers about dodgy brake sytems'.

I've had a google and found this: https://www.f1technical.net/news/25295 which seems to be what you are referring to.

Seems to be a bit of 'might have' and 'maybe' rather than any concrete facts or 'cheating', and a clear denial from a Red Bull mechanic.

Even if it was happening the rules have put a stop to it from being used again.

Nasty crash for Sargeant in FP3. Car smashed into the barriers and then caught fire.

Amazing he was able to just walk away.

Three place grid penalty for Hamilton for apparently blocking Perez.

Albon disqualified for an alleged floor irregularity.

I thought we had to wait something like 24hrs before we could comment on the race in case someone who hadn't seen it accidentally came into the thread and had the result spoiled.

Anyway, I was relying on seeing the highlights as I watched the football at 2pm, but it wasn't really an unexpected result given the previous races. Mc Laren have had the best car for some time before the summer break, and frankly I can only see them winning the constructors championship, with both their drivers able to consistently score good points.

Even with Norris continuously being woeful at race starts from pole, the car has enough to keep them in the game and we saw once they caught the Red Bull, they overtook and were off into the distance by some margin.
Given Perez continues to be pretty lacklustre it would seem there can only be one Constructors result and that's a Mc Claren win.

Max will have to continue scrapping for points to try and stay ahead in the Drivers championship, so it should be an intersting battle to the end to the season. :thumb:

Don't worry, I was being sarcastic! I'm of the opinion that once the race is over then it's fair game to talk about it here.

As said, I was relying on the highlights, but it wasn't exactly difficult for me to not enter this thread until I'd actually watched it.

It's always far more difficult to avoid spoilers on the tv news, or posts on social media etc, than on some internet aviation forum.

It's daft to not comment after the event, I mean if you really don't want to know the result don't click on the F1 thread! It does look like McLaren have the constructors in the bag.
With Norris on 225 points and 9 to go he could finish on 450. Max on 295 would finish on 457 if he bagged 2nd in every race. That said you'd have to put fastest laps with Norris. Max seems to have calmed down a bit but if this continues he could get desperate so throw some DNFs into the mix. Tell you what though after an awful start to the season if you're not a Max fan this is getting tasty now.

The McLarens still seem to have shocking starts and first laps, if they get that sorted it could be another story....

Thought It may have been a Norris thing but same with piastri so guess it's the car

Not sure it matters too much when you still win by 20 seconds
