No. I suspect that they are stored in the barns at WI with the possibility that one or two of them are still operating from China Lake.

Update: 169406 is flying with Boeing out of St Louis (KSTL 😂) and the other 6 are believed to be stored at Whidbey.
Maybe they will show themselves when VAQ-144 is activated in October 🤷‍♂️

Is that the final batch for the USN (assuming no future orders)? Thanks.

As of now yes. I can’t see why the US Navy would order more given they don’t use all of the the ones that they currently have but the Senator for Missouri seems to have a lot of clout and even when the USN don’t bid for more Super Hornets in the yearly budget, Congress give them more anyway.

VAQ-136 aboard CVN-70 is using seven Growlers rather than the usual five aircraft ... CVW-2 future Air Wing.

All this will be in my forthcoming volume 2 of my www.carrierairwings.com e-book series, but basically VAQ-143 'Cobras' has been missed out due to confusion as to its status...it was originally to have been an EA-6B unit, with CNO (OPNAV) paperwork being raised to establish it by August 2002, then funding and major airframe problems (with a number of EA-6Bs being RED STRIPEd) and various force changes due to OEF and OIF commencing meant it never happened. It was finally removed from the Navy's distribution list in 2009.

When it came to forming a new Growler squadron, it was decided that VAQ-143 was too difficult to fathom out so VAQ-144 was selected. As Mark said, it will establish on 1 October 2022...that date in 2021 saw the pre-commissioning element form under VAQ-129, not the actual/full squadron

Thanks for the confirmation Mike. I'll look forward to seeing VAQ-144 in action.

Are Growlers up to the present day included in Vol 2?

Hope all is well? Regards

Mark
