Surely NNW would still mean RWY22? I know it would at Lyneham and they have a runway 24 which isn't massively different...

They were on 04R today but when the formation was due to RTB they looked into swapping to 22R. I was outside to watch them fly over my home town the the phone rang :grr: so not sure if they actually swapped. Someone who was there today should be able to confirm if they did.

Hi Guys,
With the wind direction they aren't shy of using Rwy 27, although with the special event I guess the'd use the main runways. Good luck to everyone tomorrow, give the Harrier a good send off. My thoughts are with the guys who work on the base, especially with christmas a week or two away, not a good way to end the year. God only knows what will go through the pilots minds tomorrow.

I forgot to add, I'm off to Wittering with the camcorder. I'd love to do Cottesmore, but I've a two year old daughter who hasn't grasped the finer details of watching aircraft, & has the breaking strain of a kit-kat. The parking, cold, & noise will break her, fingers (no pun intended) crossed they use 22 tomorrow. Would have loved some shots of the grey/green harrier.

NNW should be R22, they will try there best to get this end because it will be like park and veiw being set up one end and they use the opposite

Will be a sad but very good day!

I think there is a chance of a smaller flypast of some sort for the dispandment during early 2011!, A chance of a fly-in tomorrow for VIP's and Visitor flypast might be likley!

Morning guys, just arrived at cottesmore. Around 8 cars parked by the crashgate outside the cordon, plenty of room if people park sensibly by the foot path to 22R threshold.
One way system on hooby lane not yet implemented, there are diversion signs knocking about and mod police have drove past the 4 or so cars where I'm parked at the footpath. Weather is pretty overcast and the vis isnt too great at the moment. Lets hope it picks up and we get a good day!

If, like me, you can't get there, BBC News are showing the return from 1400 onwards.

No where near as busy as I expected down by the footpath, could have a longer kip!!

I think it's time we all get out those prayer mats to clear the weather!!!
