Lakenheath Visitor Summary - 2022

Work in progress that might be a waste of time!

As the heads up posts have gone I thought I would try to create a summary of the visitors by month at Lakenheath- main problem is that I only log stuff I need and post into the heads up section! But I do take quite a few photos and with help from the Lakenheath section I will try to list the high lights.

If anyone has any updates and feels like posting then I can update the monthly summary

Starting with January 2022

15 SJ SJ eagles from 336FS arrived on 4th October 2021 and left going further east on the 6th October but with the exception of 89-0505 were back at Lakenheath during January and February 2022

They all went east on 6/10 and 14 of the 15 were back at Lakenheath for January ( a few were back during November). The missing jet 89-0505 apparently lost a canopy in flight and didn't return to Lakenheath until much later.

Callsigns noted in use by the SJ during local flying were :-
Atlas, Banshee, Blast, Bubba, Dumper, Gulf, Gundog, Magnet, Olds, Rocket, Sanpan, Siege, Waco.

I think the next thing to happen was the AV F-16 deployment in March 2022

I'm hoping to get down a bit more in the New Year... fingers crossed for a few more deployments.

On another note... from your past experience... do you think Lakenheath will fly on the up to the 23rd this year... been watching for the Notam but nothing released yet.

Sorry I don't know for sure. I heard 22/12 is the last flying day at Lakenheath but you never can tell.

Hi Mike - can't help with your wherabouts for 1st Feb but you did comment on a couple of photo posts. The first pass was roughly north to south (over the airfield I think based on my distance shot). Then to Madingley and Duxford before returning over Lakenheath/Brandon so I think along 06/24 heading.
