🇺🇦 🌻 🇺🇦

Thursday 2 Mar - Thursday 16 Mar
At the start of March, high pressure will likely dominate across the UK, with any more unsettled weather likely to be across the far north or northwest. Generally drier more settled conditions are expected, with occasional spells of unsettled weather possible at times, especially in the south. Cold nights are likely in places throughout the period. Temperatures will likely be around or slightly above average for the whole period, with perhaps colder conditions relative to average more likely later in the period. There remains a small but increasing probability of much colder weather developing as we move further into March.

Do we reckon machloop would be busy during this period? If so when abouts in march would be best or will flying be flat out from the bases every day

This is slightly related. A notam has been issued for Brize which would seem to suggest that no aircraft will be operating from there, though I don't know what WIP means!

I don't recall any CW traffic using the Loop in recent years. With it being an RAF ran exercise they probably follow RAF rules and don't use the loop.

The Germans used the lakes a few times in September.

Scramble are now showing the Indian Il-78 as due at Brize on March 1st, and the C-17 due the same day at Waddo.

Rumoured quantites:

Turkish F-16 x3 and Kc-135 x1
Belgian F-16 x8
Finnish F-18 x6
Indian Mirage 2000 x5

Support from Turkish/Belgian A400, Indian C-17, Saudi C130/A330
Pretty much spot on to a list I was sent tonight.
Indian IL-78 to Brize 01/03
2 Indian C-17s to Waddo 01/03
But these Support flights do not co inside with the supposed M2000s arrival which I have been given as 27/02
I think there is more we currently do not know about but looking good so far :D

There should be a CW related movement at Waddington every day between the 26th Feb and the 3rd March, excluding the 2nd march.

Latest report saying the Turks have withdrawn from CW, not entirely unexpected they have more important needs.

People keep saying that and even after it was rumoured, there were arrival dates for them given, so I think it'll be a case of seeing what touches the tarmac over the next week or so!

This time it's almost certainly fact rather than the rumour mill sadly

Inevitable really, , won't miss the F-16s but the tanker would have been nice.

Just to check, as things currently stand, assuming the Indians do indeed turn up, will there be no Il76/78 at Waddington for the duration of the exercise with all support flights by C-17s with any Il-78 basing itself entirely at Brize Norton, or have tankers that have in the past been operating out of Brize for the exercise made themselves known at Waddington?

I think it's all up in air at the moment.

It was expected Brize with the C-17s to Waddo, but latest talk is that Brize is having a lot of work done so it might not go there.

Also heard it was too loud for Waddington.

So it's anyone's guess!

Thanks, I guess it's a waiting game - let's see what the next month or so brings.
