Coronet Sidewinder I & II in 1982: 'FF' Eagles in Holland (updated)

Post by hvaneupen » Fri Mar 17, 2023 6:55 pm

Between May 17th and June 4th Coronet Sidewinder I took place and brought 12 F-15A Eagles from 27TFS/1TFW 'FF' (yellow) from Langley AFB/Virginia to Gilze-Rijen AB in The Netherlands.
This deployment was followed by a similar Coronet at Soesterberg in June which is uploaded later in this thread. A mix of black&white and colournegative scan's bring back some nice memory's to me!

Great, some really early Eagles and love the gear down formation with the NF-5

I was going to say that I probably saw these at AMARC in 1993 but despite logging 58 F-15As there, only one of yours was in the batch.
The early ones definitely looked thin and spindly in comparison to the later E's etc.

Yes, I remember that day. A boat Harwich Hook of Holland then to Gilze for the Langleys. My fir#t stateside Eagles. Also went to Yepenburgh for the stored F104s a thoroughly worthwhile trip. Great memories

Cornonet Sidewinder II took place from June 7th to 23th and brought a mix of 12 F-15A/C/D Eagles from the 71 TFS (red) to Soesterberg AB. These pictures are from June 21th a rather grey day...
