This may add to the traffic issues if coming from Highworth.

and the purple route between Kempsford and Hannington is still closed until at least mid-August unless they open it up for RIAT.

I always go the advertised route that avoids lechlade, comes out just after the Shell garage.

Guess they might send everything that way?

It shouldn't affect anyone coming from Stow in the Wold / Burford direction on A361

The blue route from Swindon direction is via the A419 and C124 so that should also remain unaffected

If the purple route is shut over the weekend then blue departures will be affected.

Could be. They may utilise the alternate blue route via Castle Eaton for departures to try and ease the burdon.

Got this off my landlady -

Travelling for RIAT. ROAD CLOSURES.
Bear in mind that the A361 into Lechlade from Highworth is due to be closed until late July at the earliest (Halfpenny bridge was structurally damaged by a car). It's been stated that it will definitely still be closed during RIAT. The diversion route is quite long, twisty and in places very tight for two vehicles to pass. The road is also in SHOCKING condition, so when it says 'bumpy road' read that as being trenches across the road. (I live not far away, so know it well.)
The road from Hannington to Kempsford is also closed, with a large hole in it. It's been shut for ages, so goodness knows what they're doing there!
Also, the Faringdon-Lechlade road (A417) will have two-way lights on it on Friday 14th between The Trout and Lechlade. So that's going to add even more joy to the local traffic! Here's hoping Thames Water will finish whatever they're doing early...
So if you're planning to come to RIAT, check out your routes the day before, and allow MUCH more time for travel than you think you'll need. And bear in mind that getting out will also inevitably be slower. (Food and drink packed in your car for post-show-site-exit delays...)

Have they released the routes yet for those attending RIAT? Thinking we'll be coming in from Swindon, into the Blue Zone. Thanks

From the North East (M40/A40) Red Route
Traffic from the North East should approach via Burford and Lechlade, along the A417
and then through Whelford village into the Red car parks. Traffic on the A420 should
avoid approaching Lechlade from the South East.

From the South and South East Blue Route
Traffic from the South and South East on the M4 should travel north along the A419(T)
(exit M4 at Junction 15) then, after Cricklade, depart left onto the C124 towards
Kempsford and into the Blue car parks.

From the West and South West Brown Route
Traffic from the West, South West and Bristol on the M4, exit at Junction 17 and travel
north towards Malmesbury, turning north east on to the B4040 towards Minety and then
north on the B4696 towards Ashton Keynes (Cotswold Water Park). Traffic passes over
the A419 joining the Cirencester Road south bound through Latton, merging with the
Blue or Green routes as directed, dependent upon prevailing traffic levels.

From the North West Green Route
Traffic travelling from the North West (M5 Junction 11A and Cheltenham) should follow
the A417(T) south, exiting at the Burford Road junction and joining the A417 eastbound
towards Fairford. Traffic will be directed through Meysey Hampton into the Green car
parks. Traffic travelling from the West should follow the Cirencester ring road to the south
of the town and use the old A419 past South Cerney airfield. Carry straight on at the first
roundabout and follow the road parallel to the A419(T). At the second roundabout turn
left, over the A419(T) and bear right towards Latton. Turn left to Down Ampney and
follow signs to the Green car parks.

Additional overflow routes also exist to relieve congestion on all the main routes.
Drivers should however be aware that once in the vicinity of RAF Fairford, they will be
directed onto the designated Air Tattoo routes as agreed with the Police (see above).

Does anyone know if this bridge is now open again or if it's still closed for repairs?
