Re: Forum slow 19-04-2024
I'm currently looking in to the issue after being made aware this morning. A temp 'fix' is in place that seems to have helped but I'll continue to investigate during today. I expect there may be some brief periods of downtime whilst I try to resolve.

Nice one
Well done
As an outsider I wonder what has recently changed to cause these issues. Also does the photo section have any load consequences on the server ? I realize the photos are only stored as a link but presumably they are rendered by the web servers for display on the 'clients' (spotter!) device?

Cheers Adam! Running ok!
Re: Forum slow 19-04-2024
Not from FC servers, so they won't affect anything here. The burden is on the hosting server (flickr etc.) hence why FC doesn't host pictures in the first place as these image hosts are in a better position to cope with the bandwidth.

Re: Forum slow 19-04-2024
Mmmm perhaps but although Flickr will hold the data for the image the FC servers still have to render the web page including the embedded photo
Anyway photos have long been part of FC but something is different - more users - greater number of concurrent connections?

Rendering of the web page is done by the client/browser, not the server. Transfer of the image data does not go anywhere near the FC servers.slogen51 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2024 11:32 amMmmm perhaps but although Flickr will hold the data for the image the FC servers still have to render the web page including the embedded photo

The issue appears to have been questionable entities trying questionable things. Continuing to monitor for now.
Re: Forum slow 19-04-2024
Many thanks for your efforts Zymurgy661. All back to normal for now.
At least, whilst those 'questionable entities' are attacking the forum, they're not phoning me!

Thanks Adam
I wonder if these entities are the same ones that got Norwegian ATC this morning and Sainsbury's again!?
There seems to have been a lot of computer issues of late, is someone trying to tells we are to reliant on electronic technology?

Nearly all the most recent posts in the UK Heads up section are saying that they do not exist!

Not seeing that problem. All has been working fine for me since the reboot.
Re: Forum slow 19-04-2024
Just rechecked and issue still exists. Subject shown but after that it says topic does not exist

Mine all okay here too. May need to clear cache/cookies
Re: Forum slow 19-04-2024
Still same problem. All other sections OK. For some reason does it think I have not reached 15 posts when I am way over that requirement?
Re: Forum slow 19-04-2024
It does sound like that could be the case but it's the first I've come across it.
