Re: RAF retirement dates
I read the article but bit confused these are dates for aircraft, in you could say, current state?
Updates are always possible?
14 Chinooks have yet to be delivered!
A replacement for the C-17 is not on the horizon.
And looking at some dates, a program for a some sort of replacement may have to start (very) soon RC-135 and Shadow eg. No mentioning of Wedgetail.

Thanks Gary, it came up on my phone, but the link disappeared when i opened it.
I'm guessing it is only types in service, so the new Chinooks are not included and replacements for things like C-17 are not even considered yet

Re: RAF retirement dates
Hawk T2 won't make 2040, Chief of Air Staff wants it gone long before then.
You want the Aladeen news, or the Aladeen news?

Re: RAF retirement dates
With regard to the Shadow is 2030 the date by which they want all aircraft upgraded to R2/R2+ etc or is it an OSD for the type itself?

Is this a trusted source ? I’ve always taken them with a pinch of barbiturates.Gary wrote: ↑Wed Apr 30, 2025 6:43 pmUK Defence Journey https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/raf-air ... M5tlCdKx2w
Anyone remember Rip Van Winkle “woke” up and George was still King.
Has this info been talked about at the Westminster despatch box? or in a select committee?

Re: RAF retirement dates
These dates are only planning figures. They can be brought forward as a cost cutting measure or extended, as is often the case!

Amazed to see no mention of the cornerstone of the RAF, the mighty Grob Tutor. Please, please don't say it will go on forever...colt99 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 30, 2025 4:13 pmPlanned RAF Out-of-Service Dates (OSDs):
