Was the tigermeet F-16 moved to a different dispersal like foxtrot or is it going to be the display jet? Because it was parked live side for a while.

In two minds about if departures is worth the £5 now
I'd only do departures for the things that have come in late like the Andover. However, I sure as heck won't be going in the enclosure and wasting £5. Assuming they actually open it.

Did anyone see the ridiculous amount of police tape littering the gates of the WAVE? Completely OTT.

That's the reason i'm in two minds  Just hope they aren't on 02 for departures or it could be dot spotting on some of them

One of the biggest laughs is when ATC denied the King Airs a formation fly though  Wasn't exactly busy was it

Very sad times for Waddington air show :'(

Tiger scheme F-16 was moved to Foxtrot after the Chunderbirds flypast demo. It had to go live side to shut down due to issues with Hydrazine.

Hi everyone

I really feel for all those that have gone today, i personally did not go, and that was as a result of last years arrivals day.

Waddington use to always charge per car and normally this was around £7, i arrived last year to find they were charging £5 per person and there was three of us in the car.

That was a little bit off putting but it was later on at 1700 pm when the RAF Police came round telling everyone to leave that really upset me.

This was very dissapointing as there were aircraft still arriving, in years past you were allowed there till it all had arrived.

I hope you all made something good from a frustrating and dissapointing day

Best rgds

Snafu wrote:The worst arrivals day I've ever been to. The journey in was a pain and the lack of aircraft summed up how far this show is sinking. To put the boot in, they even landed everything at the end away from the paying public....don't tell me the winds were so vicious that they just HAD to land on 02. Many were leaving before 2 o'clock and I left before 3...I've always had to be booted out before. Thoroughly, thoroughly disappointing day. The last 2 days have been a lesson in how to pee people off :(
Why didnt you go to 02 end then? I watched the weather forecast and saw the wind direction. No oh fudge at 02 end, no traffic jams, just parked at the end of the lane all day, £5 better off, no sun in yur face, see everything landing etc etc...nice...

Do they allow you to park at the 02 end during the show? I finish a 12 hour shift sunday morning and have to travel up from Luton, I don't really want to use the A15 if I can help it.

Thanks CG :thumb: the thought of a 12 hr night shift followed by a 2 hour drive, then 2 hours in a traffic jam is not very apealing. But if I can get there earlier enough then I'll be there.

Muddy Boots wrote:You were lucky not to be moved on. They always cone-off and restrict parking within a mile+ radius of the base, starting on arrivals' day.

Sounds like you were in the right spot though. :thumb:

This year the signs did all clearly say the parking restrictions were for the Saturday and Sunday only. I am pretty sure that is a change from previous years when I think it was for all five days.

Not sure what was going on on the A15 though, all the existing restrictions would still apply preventing any parking on the road or the verge for the full length right past the airfield. Most odd, maybe all the police were tied up in hedge protection.

Amazingly quite at 02.

strange thing about the hedge, both the RAF Police and the civvy mob were very well aware that some people were trimming the hedge and were not overly bothered because lets face it they have more important things to do, that is until one of the spotters gets upset because of the said trimming hurting the hedge, said spotter them phones the police complaining about the hedge being trimmed and it being an offence, so said plod on both sides have to show willing about the hedge to keep said upset spotter happy!!! both police forces on both sides then go up and down the line :grr: ing everybody off about hedge trimming

I hope the one spotter is a happy bunny for he very definately spoilt things for a lot of other people, for what its worth the hedge is not in pain and will grow back!!!

I decided to go in the end. Bit of a damp squid really. Left at about 3 thinking I may as well beat the traffic coming out. When going in, They were filtering a line of cars in from both directions of the A15. One at a time. But at the entrance there was a black car (Skoda I think) bang in the middle of the entrance. Ryan and myself assumed it was an unmarked police car. Nope. It looked like he had driven down the A15 and pulled staright into the entrance between the two rows of cars.
The police seem to be making him wait there. But as we passed there was an almighty row between the drive and two officers. Them shouting at him and threatening to 'lock him up', him shouting back. I don't know how it ended, but it was getting just a tad heated as we went past.
The day itself was a bit quiet, but the weather was nice, caught up with a good friend and got a tan. Nowhere near as busy as usual, but I expected that and respect what our forces are doing at the moemnt. Lifes too short to get stressed by it. I did get bored at times, but hey ho!

If thats true about the "spotter" complaining to the plod about people pruning the hedge then he deserves a good old fashioned kickin' so to speak.
darn do-gooders! And i'm sure the hedge was grateful for a bit of pruning as its clearly being neglected by everyone else.

Reading comment about the 02 end, it seems like a go-oer if I decide to do departures. Just a bit wary as one year they (the Fuzz) went as far as enforcing restrictions on Bloxholme Lane at the 20 end.

Reading through the last few pages, as an aviation photographer I shake my head in shame as it seems to have reached a sad state of affairs when physical violence and damage to other peoples property are advocated just to get a few photos of aeroplanes.

I don't think it's me that need to get a new hobby.

If you have indeed read through then maybe you realise what a sensitive issue the whole farce has become. I have read reports of people bringing hedge cutters etc which is completely OTT and wrong. However my comment was re the spotter was that due to his actions it seems to have caused issues for many others and fanned the flames as it were. Theres a difference between "advocating violence" and just expressing an opinion.
Please do not quote me with the holier than thou attitude.
