Re: frequency
It will use whatever airfield frequencies that it is on the deck at and whatever LARS and ATC frequencies which it is airborne over.
Very odd, vague question gets an equally vague answer i'm afraid.

Thats a fare enough answer my man thank you
Re: frequency
I thought Doncaster Radar was done from Doncaster?!
Re: frequency
Ah, fair enough - thought some of the controllers were dual rated, but thought it was Approach/Tower, rather than Doncaster/Liverpool approach

Re: frequency
Listen to 126.225 often and never here approach aircraft refer to Doncaster/Liverpool.
Re: frequency
Either way, he isn't going to hear it on that frequency very often being 90 miles away. Hence why i initially said "whatever LARS or ATC service it is working on its route".
Grimly, you have to wait and see which test route it takes and then you'll be able to listen to the local ATC or London Mil ATC. Programme in all the local LARS (Airfield Radar) and London Mil and Scottish Mil and you should pick it up if it transits eastwards towards you...
If its below 5000ft then it will work the local airbase/airfield radar service and if above 5000ft, London Mil East or Scottish Mil (formerly London Mil North) depending which route it takes.
Local ones as in Coningsby, Marham, Norwich, maybe Waddington too...

Re: Vulcan Frequency?
Doncaster Radar/Approach 126.225 is done from doncaster as i can only get two way on that freq if i am at the airport so why would i be able to get 2 way if it was done from liverpool and why liverpool ?
Re: Vulcan Frequency?
Doncaster radar is done from a console at Liverpool but transmitted from Doncaster. The controller is actually in liverpool. Doncaster is a tower only airfield, so once they are passed from radar to tower then are then speaking to someone at Doncaster.
Re: Vulcan Frequency?
Oh i see that explains why i get the 2 way signal at doncaster then you learn something new everyday.
Re: Vulcan Frequency?
Exactly the same system that is used at the London airfields. It's all done from Swanick, on the south coast! (As is all "London" area control, for that matter, and I'd guess you can get two-way with them tookurt.fairhurst wrote:Doncaster Radar/Approach 126.225 is done from doncaster as i can only get two way on that freq if i am at the airport so why would i be able to get 2 way if it was done from liverpool and why liverpool ?

Re: Vulcan Frequency?
Ah, I get two way on the London freqs for up this way and the Midlands
Same with the Scottish freqs from Prestwick.
