Squadron Wings have brought out a few bits of diecast that may be of interest to a certain Mr Marples...... :lol:

Today, Mrs. Postwoman (to speak in political correct terms) was kind of nice to me and delivered two of my most recent additions to my 1/400 scale diecast collection. Apart from the (shown here)latest Dragon 400 release, the SR-71 Blackbird, I finally got around to get me an EC-121D Big Eye (not shown, as I need to assemble the landing gear first), however, two other recent additions are the Gemeni Jets C-5 Galaxy and the Herpa Wings 400 AN-225. For size comparison, I'm also showing a NetModels 400 USAF DC-9. A couple of years ago I wrote to Herpa asking for a 1/400 AN-225 and was told "not in your lifetime"... guess they received enough requests for that and finally decided to do one. I like it!

and finally an overview of the entire group

I didn't realize how small the SR-71 actually was (or is). Pictures have been taken with a small point-and-shoot, so my apologies for the lack of quality.
Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoy

cheers

Andy

PS: Now I'm waiting for the Dragon Wings 1/400 RC-135 Cobra Ball and the AC-130 release to hit the market :thumb: and wish they would do the XB-70 and the Vulcan in 1/400 as well.

Now I just need to find me a 1/400 USAF C-22B and a 1/400 C-9 Nightingale at an affordable price. A while ago, I've seen an auction on eBay for a two-piece set of the USAF C-9 Nightingale but I've never ever seen just one airplane being offered. Only really would like one... why two?

Admittedly not my call, and I hate to say it, but I think AFV might be pushing it.

Most of the other forums are general model forums so it would be logical to have general modeling sections within them.

The model section at FC is an `add on` to a dedicated aviation site, so I feel that in general the model section, be it plastic or diecast, it should remain within the aviation theme.

Like I said, just my opinion and admin or the mods feel diffrently.

Either way, if you post them on another site, let me know as I`d love to see them. :)

This Hobbymaster F.4 is the one you want as the Corgi version is now looking a bit outdated. This is actually a reasonable price, if not close to the actual RRP.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hobbymaster-A ... 4794458801" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

As for Lightnings, I`m afraid to say these are very sought after and it`s always advisable to get one at RRP if you really want it.

Here`s a F.1 which is up for auction and I don`t doubt will go higher....,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CORGI-AIRCRAF ... 3814789864" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And here`s an F.6 which as at a reasonable price as these will only climb higher in the future.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CORGI-BAC-Lig ... 9136749651" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Of course you can always hedge your bets and wait for the next air show season, get to a big one early and run around the diecast stalls as they sometimes advertise and sell diecast models at bargin prices. ;)

I am really impressed with that!

Does anyone know of a 249 Sqn Canberra in Diecast? I am looking for one to place at my Grandads Plaque.
Cheers

I`m afraid not Jamie.

However it wouldn`t be out of you depth to buy a cheap one and then code 3 it.

Technically the kit is built, you just need to mask it up, repaint and then apply decals. ;)

Having a large stash of plastic kits, I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't delve into the world of diecast models. Unfortunately I was given the Sea King as a present, I say unfortunately as it meant that I had to complete this 22 Squadron trio. The rotor spin was done by using natural light, timer delay. a slow shutter speed and a careful well timed flick of the rotors with my fingers.

Nice ... really nice....

I'm still trying to find me an affordable Hobby Master 1/72 F-111 Lakenheath or F-106 Bicentennial but those prices usually skyrocket right before the auctions close on fleabay.... oh well...

Still trying to find me a USAF C-9 Nightingale in 1:400 or an EC-121T (!) Warning Star.... for some reasons, these seem to be simply unavailable. Oh well... it's really been quiet on the diecast front. I'll keep looking.
By the way, it seems that the Dragon Wings 1:400 RC-135 Cobra Ball which was announced in 2010/2011 never made it onto the market or have I missed something?

Keep them coming, even if I don't have anything new to show for my own collection, I always enjoy seeing fellow collector's collections.
Cheers

Andy
