Culdrose and surrounding

Post by Dan214sqn » Wed Oct 23, 2013 7:53 pm

Right ok, il depart for mawgan porth Friday for a weeks stay, I'm booked on the base tour at Culdrose Wednesday , as they have a day off Monday and ground training Tuesday .

I'm wanting to have a day on the spotters area and a trip to the lizard to hope catch them in the wild

Is this the best spot to get a result?

Also what is access like to predannack?

Thanks

Flying locations can vary, you can see aircraft pretty much anywhere on the Lizard. In Cury we quite often have the avengers circling overhead. When I am at school in Mullion there is always a lot of flying from Predannack. I have many times had a great view of underslung cargo training on Merlins and Mk 5 Sea Kings from my maths lesson :Wow:

Access to Predannack is from a footpath from a car park near Predannack Wollas, it will take you on the edge of the fire pit. I have heard it is better to go on a non flying day as there will no activity there apart from maybe gliding at the weekend. I cannot attest to its reliability but there is a story on the net of a couple and a dog being buzzed by a Lynx while hiding in an old airframe. A few minutes later they had a visit from the old MOD police

Hope this helps, and I can highly praise the tour :D

Land's End airport is constantly shut due to fog or wet runway (grass). For aircraft the Lizard is much better :)

I suggest sending Nick.M a PM, he posted some brilliant close ups a few months ago - viewtopic.php?f=16&t=82631&p=515164&hil ... ll#p515164
