A153 closed

Post by flyingslug_0 » Thu May 13, 2010 9:57 pm

Hi all went to Coningsby today, if you, like me use the A17 then A153, then please note that the road is closed and DO follow the diversion signs. Its closed for 5 weeks but I don't know from when, but don't do what I did and drive all the way to the road works to then turn round and go all the way back to "MUMS DINER" to follow the diversion. Allow at least 30 mins extra on your trip as the diversion is a long one and spits you out near tattershal.

Only closed from 0930-1700 each day. Other times you can get through. Also, the diversion is way too long.

There is a parallel road through 'Ruskington Fen' - try that if coming from Sleaford way, loads quicker.

I join the A17 halfway along so i have two routes i can use. I used to use the A153 but now my preferred route is nearly 1 mile longer but easier to drive up as its as straight as an arrow. Also if runway 25 is in use, its even better.

Is the A153 still closed?

Am thinking of a trip out on thursday so might come a different way via gainsboro', ludford, horncastle etc.

As of 0630 this morning, almost half of the new road surface was in place. Not sure how much longer the roadworks are going to be there however. It would probably be safer to find an alternative route, just in case. Even the locals have been shafted by short notice and very poorly signed road closures.

Still, got some nice shots of the lancaster and the visiting alpha jet. Only 17 sqn flew in the morning with AA and AB plus 41 sqn put up EB-J.
