Interesting and rather cool.
Camera on a tripod and then one shot for every single Typhoon increment you see, and then merge them...somehow...

Re: Typhoon display - the final minute.
Possibly put all the photos into a PSD as layers, and then rub out holes for each image of the Tiffie?
As already stated, this is a really good idea!
I saw some shots a while back of a launch from Leuchars (I think?) done like this, but not a display before!

Re: Typhoon display - the final minute.
I seem to recall that I shot this one hand held
http://www.airplane-pictures.net/image38786.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
All be it the camera was wedged into the fence at the time.
The camera was a Canon 5D, shooting 158 JPEG images at 3 frames per second, with a layer mask technique in Photoshop. (I used one of two variations on the layer mask technique to get the result that worked) and it takes approx half an hour to process 50 images.
The shot was for the record that once upon a time two F.3s could fly at the same time!
There was a formation of five on Friday for a photo shoot with a Hurricane.
