UKAR seems U/S?

Post by Unknown74 » Sat Jul 17, 2010 11:05 am

Hi guys just looking in to ask does anyone know what's going on with UKAR website? Seems it's down at the moment, anything to do with the overload with RIAT etc?

Probably a simple problem, but all the staff are at RIAT and can't do anything about it :P

I just cannot afford it these days,
seems i am not the only ones thou that are finding it to expensive for a family day out.
booking in advance is not good when you end up with crapoli weather.have to park off base lug tonnes of stuff with you,

Was good years ago. but with the way its run today its not for us anymore.
looking at doing the outside the fence park and view fields like Rhymes, or totterdown or Furzely etc, where £10 a day for a car and still watch the flying is good and realistic value.

Without trying to take this off topic to much, it is getting more expensive nowerdays. Its not a complaint just an observation but I find with anything you enjoy it all comes at a cost. This is why I only tend to go to fairford every 2-3 years, but I only missed waddo this year due to health concerns.

As long as I can keep building my kits, popping over to the hall and go to waddo every year then I am happy.

So UKAR is down you say

Yes well down.
must be cleaning the data base out, as the influx of all the same pictures next week will be a strain.

If the cats are away they won't want the mice playing unchecked. Pity really, could've done with a laugh today.

Know what you mean about the costs of RIAT and similar. Havent done RIAT since 07 and that was after a few years away. Last couple of years preferred foreign shows where mostly (Radom being exception!) weathers decent, the stuff on display is of more interest and variety and combined with holiday doesnt cost an arm and a leg just for a show.

I stopped going in 2003 when they "shut" the century of flight section with the museum airframes straight after the flying display on the Saturday.
Too much cost & effort if your going to be denied seeing a major part of the show (and especially something not effected by serviceability!)

I don't hold grudges... :@

Just to clear things up a bit...

Yes, UKAR is down; the server has been a bit wobbly these past few weeks so we set it to restart every 6 hours as the site is always at it's busiest over the RIAT weekend. However it seems that we had more visitors than expected and the site has gone all hormonal.

The entire staff team were at FFD yesterday so we couldn't do anything about it, though we'll try and get it sorted today somehow.

Thanks,

Ben - UKAR team
