I was about to post a question about when people think we might see our AFGSC friends again - it seems now we know.

Probably be a re-run of last year - guessing they'll take part in air shows at Sliac and Ostrava and take advantage of being in Europe by participating in `Ample Strike` as well.

Was referring to the bombers- hadn't seen anything definitive about a Fairford deployment, apart from supposition based on last couple of yearsbizfreeq wrote:Yes since the first post in this thread! The dates were posted there in January

The CAG bird 60-0002 has a green fin band. ? The squadron colours for the 2BW are 'normally' red, blue and gold.
Has one of the squadrons changed its fin band or is it a special for the CAG Bird?

Equally, 61-0002 "2d OG" has a green fin band. So I would say that it is for the two CAG birds.

Not sure if this has been posted before but Ample Strike units for the B-52/B-1 doing flybys at the Sliac show 26/27 Aug are 307BW Barksdale and 345BS Dyess. As the Radom show is also on the 26/27 the same a/c will probably do flybys there as well.

Wonder if they'll put in an appearance at any of the shows over here while they're around......

Guessing it'll be low key like last year.Cornish-guy wrote:Any ideas on how many may visit FFD if they do this year?

Usually just two or three of each
Re: EX ARCTIC CHALLENGE/BALTOPS/SABRE STRIKE/AMPLE STRIKE 17
Last year was the first time they participated in Ample Strike - 1x B-52 and 2x B-1 from Reserve squadrons. Think they found the exercise was such a useful training opportunity that they were eager to take part again.Rory76 wrote:Usually just two or three of each

I must admit to a touch of BaltOps/Ample Strike confusion!graham luxton wrote:Last year was the first time they participated in Ample Strike - 1x B-52 and 2x B-1 from Reserve squadrons. Could be even more low key if an exercise in europe suddenly plummets down their list of priorities
Re: EX ARCTIC CHALLENGE/BALTOPS/SABRE STRIKE/AMPLE STRIKE 17
Which could happen at any moment, given the current situation!

Agree, this could easily scupper what were looking forward to. I remember back to the tragic events of 9/11 when Ex. Jackal Cave was cancelled at Fairford just as it was getting started!

Later than that if last year is anything to go by- bombers not involved in the first week or so of Ample Strike '16- arrived at Fairford at the very end of AugustGoldenPlane wrote:Any clue on when the bombers could arrive? As I am will be there from 21 till 23th August..
