'Incident' at Nellis

Being reported that an aircraft, type not yet reported has crashed at Nellis AFB, no word on the condition of the aircrew.

Believe this is the third accident involving a US military aircraft in 48hrs.

Thunderbirds Aircraft Mishap

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. - A U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds pilot was killed when his F-16 Fighting Falcon crashed over the Nevada Test and Training Range today at approximately 10:30 a.m. during a routine aerial demonstration training flight. The identity of the pilot is being withheld for 24-hours pending next of kin notification. An investigation is being conducted into the cause of the mishap.

The team's participation at the March Air Reserve Base "The March Field Air & Space Expo" has been cancelled. It is unknown how this accident will impact the remainder of the 2018 Thunderbirds Season.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.

crashed OVER the range? is that just terminology or does it imply a collision?

The training ranges at Nellis are vast, and I think the airbase is included in the range air space.

The lack of photos suggests they were using a display datum out in the ranges away from the public.
I know there are target/ dummy airfields within the range that could've been used.

Crash report out

The investigation into the fatal crash of a USAF Thunderbirds F-16C on Apr. 4 this year that claimed the life of the pilot has concluded
The report says slot pilot Maj. Stephen Del Bagno had G-induced loss of consciousness (G-LOC) during the High Bomb Burst Rejoin maneuver.

Bagno was inverted at 5,500 feet and pulling -2Gs and later experienced 8.56Gs, all within five seconds.

Del Bagno lost consciousness for the next five seconds and only regain conscious one second before impact into ground.
